E.ON is offering business students the opportunity to gain first hand practical experience and real life business exposure working within the generation sector of one of the world’s leading energy suppliers. Ratcliffe is one of the most efficient coal fired power stations in the UK. With a total generation capacity of 2,000MW, it produces enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 2 million homes. Ratcliffe is the only coal-fired Power Station in the UK to be retrofitted with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and FGD (Flue Gas Desulphurisation) technologies.
You will be exposed to how a corporate business functions and operates and gain invaluable experience which could open up a variety of opportunities to support your future career. You’ll also be supplementing the theoretical knowledge you’ve gained in your studies with hands-on, practical experience.
Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station is a large, fast paced working environment that boasts impressive safety, environmental and operational achievements. You will need to be pragmatic, have good communication skills and know how to effectively prioritise work. You will work directly with our lead engineers, dealing with their requests and supporting them with their current work packages and projects. You will play a key role in collating team data and producing monthly reports that will be presented to the station’s Exec team to support decisions that will directly affect the operation of the Power Station. Other potential day to day duties include managing and supporting work experience programmes, maintaining the work wear contract, facilitating the Employee forum and maintaining and updating different systems across site including the employee database and the local intranet site using the Microsoft SharePoint platform, these are key tools used across the station for the storage and retrieval of essential information. You will be expected to be comfortable organising your work around tight deadlines and be confident to work individually and as part of a team. You will be responsible for Station projects such as creating the Ratcliffe Power Station Year Book and organising and managing events. We are looking for people that have enthusiasm, plenty of self-motivation and ambition to make the role their own. Finally you must also be able to complete your work whilst respecting the station’s health and safety priorities and confidentiality requirements.
- Enrolled at university studying a business degree, achieving a minimum of a 2:1
- Good communication skills
- Strong analytical and commercial abilities
- An eye for detail and a strong independent work initiative
- Confident and capable, working well in a team environment, good time management skills
- Strong organisational skills to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access is needed.
Due to the nature of this role a CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) check is required.
