The University of Essex

An amazing experience! The University of Essex is a grest place to go and study as facilities even throughout my studies were constantly improving. The teachers and professors I had were highly qualified and always made the lessons/ lectures interesting and varied. There was always help available for anybody struggling with workload, finances, health basically everything and anything they would try and help you with. What is more, the students union is one of the best I’ve ever seen. With constant events organised almost every day, charities that you could help out with and job opportunities they are listening to their student base all the time and consistently providing quality entertainment and communities/ sports clubs/ societies that will help you enjoy the greatest years of your life.

Good course on human rights though could improve in terms of structure. Not diverse in reality and as per news these days there are many issues that need to be resolved as soon as possible. Should be diverse and inclusive and non- discriminatory.

When I first reached the university, I was really worried how its going to be, how the other students or the staff would treat me as im a international student and have never been out of my country before. But as soon as I got here, from the first day, I found out that the university’s student union and the faculty are very helpful and friendly. As I spent a few weeks I got comfortable, made new friends, joined different societies etc. I found my experience in Essex amazing and I would love to come back and recommend this university to other people. Their faculty is quite good and they have a lot of accommodations which one can select according to their budget. Everything is available on campus at any time. I’ve attended a few career fairs at the university as well which were good . Overall, I would rate the uni at avg 9.5/10.

The University of Essex is a great university with a fantastic campus and facilities and what I love most about Essex is how welcoming and multicultural the university is.

The student union are very hardworking, They have a wide range of courses and offer the best support to all students through tutorials and meetings with personal tutors. They have improved in terms of security, now a lot of questionable situations are being monitored, especially with events all round. The law teachers are quite helpful and passionate about their work and try to motivate myself and my fellow law students every chance they get.

I love the campus. It literally has everything like shops, cafes, restaurants, street food, bars, night clubs. I especially fancy the street market which takes place on one of the squares every Thursday. The Business School is amazing. I have never seen a school like this. It has palms inside. Did I mention, it's amazing? :)

Great university! So much support for all students with any problems lecturers are clued up and most of them actually have papers written that they use alongside teaching material to share knowledge. Students have a massive say in huge university decisions and there are communities for most interests that are full of people. Trying other universities previously, I have knowledge of what the average university is like and what a bad university is like. Essex exceeded my expectations massively and I look forward to completing the rest of my course.

The University of Essex has been a great campus life university with everything you need onsite. From convenient shops to the library and the bar. Everything is easily accessible. Lecturers have been nothing but great in terms of teaching and their approach to covering all that needs to be done. They're approachable and are always willing to help. Furthermore, being a part of the communities and competitions here such as the volunteering team and mooting competitions that have taken place, has allowed for great opportunities for us to expose ourselves to things we may not even have the chance to do. This has been the highlight of my university life so far. I'm glad I enrolled to the University of Essex as it has really been a great experience for me.

Campus life is just not all that exciting and you can start to develop feelings of cabin fever but they do try to be very inclusive and host events nearly every evening

The university is very accommodating of people from all different backgrounds, which is shown in their vast array of societies, which are cultural aswell as sporty. The campus is very modern and the facilities are excellent and it is further improved by SU members who work in these facilities on campus.

It's great, the facilities help me get work done affectivly, the lecturers are great. Local to town so easy travelling to and from the University. The library is very large and the food is decent. Can not complain at all

Student union is helpful with things such as looking for accom, departmental help is provided, campus has a homely feel, very pretty and comfortable to study in, not pressurising environment.

The Law course is extremely strong. The academics care about your opinions and make you involve in Lectures/seminars. Your questions always get answered by the university staff. The food on campus is not bad but can be improved. The student union is good but also can be improved.

The university of Essex has an amazing campus with all the facilities you could want and need. The 7 floor library which is now open 24/7 is one of the best things and there's always space to study. Overall the university has a really nice atmosphere and in general everyone is super nice and welcoming

The campus is so nice, I'm studying politics and the course is well set up. However, the campus is in the middle of nowhere and buses are so expensive and unreliable in Colchester.

Great support from lecturers when you need them. They provide a sufficient range of student resources (library, student centre, places to eat and events). Student union is better than other universities as they organise events which students really enjoy (sold out events). The careers centre is available and there are lectures helping us with employability and careers fair.

Excellent staff and facilities, really positive and student-focussed atmosphere. The funding for services can be dubious but generally the student body is supported well. We are supported in future employment and there are services for alumni. The layout of the university is confusing but this is a humorous niggle in an otherwise excellent campus.

Great facilities and easy to access. The course is rewarding to those who work hard and it is well structured, the teaching is also well organised.

I came here through cleaning after coming to visit while trying to decide which uni to decide. I really enjoyed coming to the uni, the fact that it's on the side of a busy town, but in a massive area of greenery. There is quite a lot of accommodation, but it's hard to get into the one you want. I got into my 5th choice which was the university quays, and it was an ok accommodation, but lived with people I didn't like. Throughout my course I've received a lot of support through my course. I am able to email my lecturers at any point and most of them reply reasonably promptly. Unfortunately the GP on site isn't the best as it's very hard to get appointments and the receptionists are seriously rude, but handy it's so close!! I have struggled with mental health issues and have tried to contact the uni about it, but didn't receive the support I needed and had to take a large amount of time away from uni to be supported by my mum. I have had friends who have received very good support though!
