The University of Leeds

Leeds university is great, from the outstanding staff to the amazing facilities, spaces and people on campus. The campus is great, everything you need is close together and a short walking distance from one another. The course is not as I expected it to be, with less focus on what I would have personally liked to have done, but I understand the need for the course to be like this and does get better. The student union is great, many good shops and nightlife events, only downside is the hoodies should be free for students. My experience so far has been great and I look forward to another year in my home away from home.

The union is the most welcoming that I have ever come across. The University really cares for its students, from offering free breakfasts dufing exam season, to free yoga and wellbeing workshops.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 years at Leeds University. Not only is it an amazing city, but the campus and university itself is of a high standard. The campus is easy to navigate round and the university union hosts lots of events, gigs and nights out- definitely a hot spot for students! The union also provides countless societies that anyone can involved in. These are all displayed at the fresher’s fair at the start of year allowing you to meet other students and committee members. I undertook a Law degree whilst at university, which was located in a newer part of the campus. The school provided lots of events to meet other students, career events and even a whole law fair. I speak highly of the university and would recommend to everyone.

I knew that Leeds University had a fantastic reputation and I admired its ‘red-brick’ status which influenced my decision to apply here. I also knew of some people from my hometown that seemed to be having a great life in Leeds. Having done some more research I then discovered that the faculty of biological sciences (FBS) department at Leeds University was one of the best in the country and that they offered modules that I felt I would be interested in. Also, having grown up in rural Cumbria I was so ready for a change and to experience city life but I did not want to go somewhere as large and as daunting as London. Therefore, the northern city of Leeds seemed like the perfect fit and when visiting the campus, particularly the union, I felt at home. I love the city centre, it is the perfect size and there is so much to do there including mini-golf, shopping, eating out; the list is endless. I also love that there is loads of student housing for second and third years within short walking distance of the university. All of my friends live in Hyde park and I love that I can get to pretty much every one of my friends’ houses in less than 5 mins. Additionally, the research that my lectures present to us is cutting edge. For example, I learn the newest advances regarding cancer research and how to treat it which is beyond interesting – especially because pretty much everyone is affected by cancer in some way. One interesting aspect is about metastasis, this is basically learning how a cancer is able to spread in the body and colonise new sites to form a secondary tumour.

Great teaching. You feel like a person instead of a number. On campus facilities are great, and the Students Union is fair and democratic.

As a student who is studying first year again on a different course, I can appreciate the flexibilty that the university offers students by allowing them to change course to something better suited to them, even after a year. The lecturers are engaging and the system to watch lecture capture and hand in work is very accessible. The student union is fantastic, with a new instalments being put in all the time, such as the new co-op and the wooden huts on the terrace. There are loads of places to socialise with friends which makes it a good place to go after a days work in the library!

My time at Leeds has so far been fantastic - the campus is large and well maintained, the union has great facilities, and I feel I get good contact hours and support with my course. I’ve also had the opportunity to spend a year at university in Australia additional to the three years in Leeds, and the support for this so far has been really good.

The campus is really clean and all the staff are really friendly. The student union facilities are really great! They just opened a new co-op which is a big upgrade from the previous essentials supermarket they use to have.

The campus is small so I can walk through without any transportation needed. Moreover the lecture halls and seminar rooms and closely packed with clear direction signs so students can find their rooms easily. However, some lecture theatres are not convenient for students to leave early for example Rogers Stevens. Sports Facilities: the Edge provides decent machineries for students to use whilst school accommodation users enjoy free membership enhances students' health and different ways of relaxing, for example swimming and playing ball games. The student union provides selection of food from different culture including Wok and Go, Boba Tea, Cafes and etc. This offers a wide range of selection and welcome students from all around the world. However, the common area is too small and sometimes it is hard to find a seat during peak and lunch hour.

Couldn't ask for a better uni. Dedicated lecturers to help further learning, a variety of different modules to mix things up (discovery modules), and the facilities on offer are second to none. They're always asking for feedback to help improve our experience at university. Would recommend my university to anyone. Tutors are also helpful as you have to attend regular meetings to make sure you're up to speed and getting on ok with your course. This can be tedious but for those who need extra help and support Leeds Uni offer it in abundance. In addition there are hundreds of societies for you to join to be able to make new friends, enjoy different hobbies and activities, and take part in new experiences and challenges which can help develop your skills even further. They also have a brilliiant student medical practice just for uni students just to make sure that we are getting the necessary treatment to keep us in good health both mentally and physically.

I have really enoyed my time at the university of leeds. The campus is amazing, they are constantly rennovating it and adding more. Every day there is something going on on campus and I feel the buzz all through the week. we have great on campus facilities; an amazing gym, pubs, bars and some clubs. It has genuinely been perfect for me. Furthermore, I feel i have recieved great quality teaching as well as student support in terms of personal issues, career and other extra curricular oppertunities.

Great union that offer loads for students and run loads of events. Employability service is so useful, particularly for engineering. Could do with more seats around campus/ in the libraries.
