I completed my first year now. So far, my university experience is being positive. We do a lot of practical work, group work. The first year includes two maths (financial decision making - assessed through examination; solving business problem - 2-part written assignments) involving modules which are more or less complicated, and also an absolutely useless module that is called 'management', though it is assessed very strictly. All it requires - reflections. Academical stuff like writing a report or an essay is not as important. The rest of the modules such as 'international business environment', 'marketing' or 'business processes and systems' are just normal and interesting business related modules. They have been assessed through examination + assignment (doesn't include marketing) Teaching is satisfying, obviously differs from module to module. Management is totally unclear, not enjoyable, assessment requirements also unclear, lectures and seminars are irrelevant and boring. Marketing - mostly group based work, interesting, challenging. International Business - great teaching team, interesting seminars that require you to put effort into it. Business processes - teaching team struggles to make people interested in the subject, module leader is not the nicest person, unhelpful.

We just did not feel like we were getting enough support from the tutors during our time here. The content is not diverse enough , we are struggling with job interviews because our portfolios are specialised only in one certain thing

This module was highly disappointing as despite highly interesting content the staff appear inept. They know their stuff but they don't seem to know how to teach nor care about student support.

Honestly, anything is better than this. Invest your £41,000 somewhere worth going. Lecturers don't turn up, work is returned 3 months lafter after marking, this is not setting me up for my future at all. Understaffed and badly organised. Very little commendable research, meaning they employ researchers who can't lecture. So the majority of lecturers are terrible. Just don't do it to yourself. Oh, and you'll never get a seat in the library, it's packed 24/7 with sports students. Health and Life sciences has baasically no study areas like every other faculty has. Just don't. Anything is better than this.

I like this particularly but mainly because I like drawing a lot. I prefer to draw on papers rather than on a computer. For me I normally draw whatever I want on a piece of paper first then scan it into my computer and redraw by using my work as reference. I know it takes up more time but I can manage my time well and I enjoyed the process.

This module allows you to understand the academic background of copywriting and the way it is used in the industry. You will get the chance to write your own copy and understand how your copy could be used in promotional circumstances. It is a really good insight into what you could potentially be doing in the future of you wish to become a copywriter

This module was quite intense, the lecturer knows so much about the module that you are sure to get a good knowledge over all of the Romantic period and indeed you will know plenty about childhood and education within the period too - and how it influenced our society today with regard to education and ideas about bringing up children. The seminars were helpful, and an hour and half long was a good amount of time to try and get a grip on the texts. The texts were usually a couple of poems from one author, a few essays, or a novel. They were manageable lengths to keep up with the module alongside studying for other modules and (as it runs in third year) the dissertation module.

This module in my degree seemed pointless, It didn't seem relevant or applicable to any other module and the exam was a 2 hour open book exam in which we could take in all of our materials. The lecturer kept running out of time so in our seminars we were not able to talk through everything we were suppose to. The teachers were friendly.

CIOD is an interesting module taught by an excellent tutor. Last semester we were looking at the design influences in sci-fi films. One week we would watch the movie in class, and the next week we would review it, and then write an essay about one of the films at the end of the semester. The tutor makes what could be a terribly boring subject really interesting
