Despite clubs and bars being far from my comfort zone, the relaxed and vibrant energy of Freshers' Week made it one of my favourite first-year memories! My advice is to just go for it and don't be afraid to meet new people!

Move in is super fun. You get to set up your room and meet so many people living on the same floor and building. The university usually has a lot of fun activities planned during freshers week. You are usually busy all day doings those planned activities and then going out and exploring the city’s nightlife and the various clubs. Freshers week is also a great time to try out the local cafes and find out personal favourites. Freshers week is also very intense and you would probably be busy at all times. Its a fun time to dress up, do fun things and go out and meet new people

The move in experience was very interesting and easy to handle. However, I wish I saw more socials during fresher’s week and a better advertisement of fresher’s fair.

Slightly too much babysitting by 'freps', but often very useful during the day, nice that everyone in your college goes to the same nights out etc

Good fun tbh. Had a good time. Drank lots. Went out every night. Good time tbh. Durham is a fun place even though people think its boring.

Freshers week in collingwod college was a tad disappointing. As a mature student who lives out, the college does nothing to try and get you involved or meet new people. At the end of the day we are all new students and they should try and get students living out of college halls involved too. Never received a formal dinner invitation, nor anything for the socials.

My freshers week in collingwood college was slightly disappointed. As a mature student I decided not to love in college halls. Although the college try to get you a little bit involved they do nothing to try to involve freshers that leave out of college. You don’t get the formal dinners invitations not the socials and pretty much feels like you aren’t part of the college.

I moved in, was good fun. Loved it, loved the people. Drank a lot of brew dog, the superlatives for such a beverage just don't exist yet. Craving more, that's why I'm here!

Really really good, enjoyed the price of beer in the college bars, the piff posh tings, and all of the other aspects of nightlife that make Durham unique

The collegiate system makes it a very different experience to most, but it is one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Pretty good meeting people and all, I had a great flat. Overall, though, it was fairly tame, average nightclubs, no one really got *that* drunk despite what they claim, and we had freps following us around. I was nearly 20 when I started uni, I’d been drinking for a while. I didn’t need following around, being kept on the designated event track.

Really fun, made lots of friends in college and on my course. Freshers activities were nicely planned, and the freps were super helpful

The fresher's week at my college was amazing. I was a bit worried at first that the week would only be full of drinking and clubbing, which I don't enjoy very much. There was of course plenty of that too, but I was pleasantly surprised by the range of activities offered. I very much enjoyed the more relaxed events, such as film viewings, cafe visits and going out to more chilled venues. All this was great for meeting new people with similar interests to mine. The whole week was well-organised and fun.

I hate a blast during freshers’ week meeting so many wonderful people. Loved the fact that there was something for everyone: if you weren’t a big drinker there was always something else on. The freps also took really great care of us. Can’t complain.

The moving in experience was top-notch. There were students there to great us immediately and help shift all my stuff to my room. The week itself was jam packed with events (nights out, nights in, day activities and so on like silent discos and movie nights). Meeting new people was a breeze, the fresher reps were very welcoming, however I would say that the collegiate nature of the university made it so easy to make new friends.

Help by current students made the move-in experience easier and less daunting. The events were sub-par in terms of what was going on but meeting new people in the same postion as you made them more fun than they would have otherwise been. Make sure to pick up a dominos wristband at freshers fair for £5.99 large pizzas
