Badock is perfect for people wanting to experience the true 'social side' of university. Its location in the student hub of Stoke Bishop means it has a nice community feel, and is surrounded by other student halls like University Hall and Hiatt Baker. The free bus service that runs daily makes it easy to travel to university and the city centre, and ensures you don't feel too isolated from the city itself. The rooms in Badock are somewhat questionable considering the amount of money you are expected to pay weekly. They are a good size, with good facilities, but seriously outdated and dingy. The shared toilet system initially seemed daunting, and was sometimes quite unhygienic, but was manageable (and daily cleaners meant you didn't ever have to clean the toilets yourself!). The food served at Badock was generally not very good - it was carb-heavy, tasteless and didn't really provide much nutrition. However, there was a salad bar and fresh fruit every day, and it did cater to a wide range of dietary requirements and allergies. Badock Bar is a good place to socialise with other students, particularly because the drinks are so cheap. There was also lots of green space to sit out in the summer and socialise in again!

Living in Badock Hall is a far better experience than I could have anticipated. The rooms are recently refurbished, so are modern and clean, and are surprisingly spacious compared to my initial thoughts. Having been given the nickname 'K-dock', the residence really lives up to its name in terms of its sociable nature and tendency for after parties. If you're keen to escape the main city, Stoke bishop is the place to go as it's a 20 minute bus ride to the Uni and acts as it's own little village. A few complaints would include the fact that there are only 7 washing machines between however many hundred students, paired with Stoke Bishop's inability to come up with an efficient postage system. Also, some sort of social space to chill would be much appreciated, as the kitchen gets pretty disgusting after a good night and an area not covered in spilt alcohol would be lovely! I do, however, have to credit the food, which is not as terrible as expected, and I am very grateful for the fact that self catered students are able to pay for meals when we don't feel like cooking!

Far from centre, but lovely walk and quiet area. Lively residence, friendly. Buildings old but functional, good showers and heating.

Great location in Stoke Bishop where most first years live, about 15 mins bus from the main uni campus (U1 is good and reliable). Really great relaxed people and friendly helpful staff. Most sociable of all the halls in Stoke Bishop and has a good and cheap bar. Rooms are slightly small and some that aren't refurbished are quite poor quality. Food can get a bit tedious and boring towards the end of the year but is really convenient (especially breakfast) and social. Overall, really great experience. Slightly overpriced and not great value in terms of quality of accommodation, but most Uni of Bristol accommodation is overpriced.

Overpriced as the food and general living space was fairly horrible. Far out but you got free transport. Also attracted a certain kind of not very nice person.

The self-catered part of the halls were exceptional, newly built, double beds, and it doesn't even feel like you're sharing a bathroom when its 4 bathrooms between 10.

The rooms are old fashioned and the bathroom area is disgusting. No cooking facilities to speak of. I would recommend Hiatt Baker a lot more as this is where my friends were. No social areas.

Badock is a fun, sociable halls with an excellent bar. In terms of location it's a quick bus ride to the university or to the city. The real positive is being in Stoke Bishop along with Hiatt Baker halls and the other boring ones. If you're looking for a place to pretend that daddy doesn't have a 6 figure salary then badock is surely the place for you.

Big rooms and the best student bar. We had the best community feel of any hall. Don’t let the exterior put you off! Stoke Bishop is great especially as you’re surrounded by so many students and the free bus pass means distance to uni isn’t a problem.

Stoke Bishop is a great place to be. Lots going on. Good free transport to the main university. Rooms are quite old but a decent size.

the location is really far away from the university and the city centre but the free bus does help. i think the accommodation was better than i expected and the majority of the staff are really nice and friendly. there's a good sense of community throughout and i guess to location can be a plus as it's quite secluded.

The hall facilities were limited; my room had no sink, the bed was really small and the 'kitchen' facilities weren't good (one tiny fridge for 12 people). The showers on our corridor were ok but other corridors had mould so everyone used ours and it was hard to get a free slot. We also came across a few cockroaches, though luckily not in the bedrooms. The food was good most of the time, and there were always decent vegetarian options. The social side of it was great, and really laid back and easy to meet people. The staff there were also lovely, especially the pastoral support, so these factors made up for the physical side of things. The bus service was excellent.

Good halls of residence, the food is okay and the rooms are acceptable. Not the nicest but they have everything you need.
