In terms of location, marketgate is as central as you can get- perfect for people studying at the city centre campuses- and the rooms are also decent. On the other hand, the rest of the marketgate experience is pretty poor. That many awful things went on in there (many drug related) that they had to introduce very strict security to the doors which made it feel like you lived within a prison complex. Appliances always broke and the staff that fixed them were sometimes strange. The general vibe around marketgate is not a nice one. Would not recommend!

The location is perfect for students who love the city centre, it's very central and there is easy access to many places. The facilities are simple but always well maintained by Marketgate staff. They are really efficient. The social areas in the building are well maintained as well and are always available to students. Room sizes are just perfect with enough storage for basic necessities.

The location is amazing! And all the rooms are cozy and have comfy beds. I moved out of student village into market gate and i prefer it, in my old halls my shower would flood the bathroom floor while in marketgate the shower is separate so it doesnt leak. I feel safe in my accomodation too because not just anyone can walk in they have to sign in. Theres a common room downstairs with some facilities although i dont see people using them often. The social side of marketgate is great because theres always something going on and visiting your mates is just a lift ride away. The best thing about marketgate has to be the location, any shop that you could think of is within a ten minute walk, and is also so close to all the great venues and things to do in bristol.

The accomadtion is located in the centre of Bristol just a few minutes walk from cabot circus. The halls themself are very nice. The beds are a good size, as well as the en-suite bathroom. The staff are very nice and there 24/7 to help.

Location is great, next to restaurants and good nightlife and access to buses. Rooms are kind of small and the showers that haven't been redone are very cramped, decent storage space, corridor format of flat doesn't make it too social, friendly staff and security making you feel safe

It is the best location if you want to live in the city centre and not on campus which is better during freshers. There's a bus which goes straight from outside marketgate to uni which isn't always that frequent but only takes about 15 / 20 minutes. Rooms are a good size with a small double bed and the bathroom is small especially the shower but it works fine. The kitchen and living area isn't that nice or new but is okay to live in and not much worse than other halls but defo could do with an update. Best halls for social and going out if you're not into societies and that.

Located city centre, perfect for shopping and nightlife. Bus stop for uwe express directly outside meaning you're only 20 minutes from Uni. Buses running to everywhere from the stops behind the building means everything is accessible. The halls are basic but clean and the people who tend to live there are almost always sound. Lifts are awful and barely ever work but apart from that it's all good. Very expensive for basic halls but experience makes up for it *not for the quiet

Not bad room size, with ensuite and plenty of amenities in the kitchen but the flys which come out in the hotter weather plague the entire flat block.

If I could give marketgate no stars I would. The halls are dark and gloomy. The standard of the room was terrible- filthy upon arrival. The bathroom was dated, converted in lime scale and the shower didn’t work properly. It reminded me of a cheap caravan bathroom. Mattress was filthy, poor ventilation so was always stuffy. Location was great but my room backed into a car park where delivery vans were constantly, so no privacy or peace.

Very good social experience - noisy but lots going on. Room very dark - small window. Lifts were often broken and using the stairs to get to the 8th floor is very tiring

Market gate has done well through my hard year of university, it has all the facilities you need from good hygiene to great social time with friends. The social community is amazing and the staff are so friendly. Would recommend highly!!!

Great place to stay in the city, where all the action is! Rooms are good, all ensuite which is amazing. Marketgate feels like the hub of student life would recommend!

Great for social side of things but the actual rooms are average. Very small bedrooms but on the plus side they are all en suite. Lift is often out of order which isn’t great when you live on the upper floors.

location is amazing - right in the centre of bristol and right opposite a bus stop however the lift never works and i live on the 10th floor so that is frustrating... Its a very lively halls, theres always something to do / a party to go to. wouldnt recommend it for the quiet early night type!

The location of marketgate is perfect as it is right in the centre and walking distance to everywhere , the downside is the amount of drug activity throughout the halls .

The rooms are good with an en suite. Kitchens are decent. There’s always a party on which is good if you wanna get involved but is noisy nonetheless. Lots of drugs are taken in the building and weird stuff happens all the time.

Room is lovely, warm, spacious. Ensuite bathroom. Gets damp and mouldy easily though. Difficult to get things fixed

Marketgate was a joy to live at, meeting new people in the flat or just in the laundry room. everyone got on okay, however the rooms weren't the best, always problems in the flat, and the staff weren't the most helpful

Ridiculously druggy and dirty nothing like the pictures and not worth the money. The staff is nice and the rooms are quite spacious and nice. The lifts need to be fixed one and for all.

Good location, decent size rooms and bathrooms and easy route too and from university. Lifts in the building can get some work done

Very good location and easy bus routes to university. Large rooms and nice en-suits. Lifts sometimes don’t work and this can mean you wait a long time to get to floor 14.

Quality place to live, always something going on. Not great for actually attending uni as it's a decent bus journey away from Frenchay and the buses are unreliable. Rooms are pretty standard and the kitchen size depends on where in the building you're situated. Would definitely recommend if you plan to make the most out of the nightlife, if you're a quiet student who's just here for the degree then I wouldn't suggest living in Mgate.

Great location, right outside Cabot Circus in the city centre. Bus stop to French campus just outside. Short walk to a bus stop to go to bower ashton. All rooms are en suite which is good. However it's very noisy at night and everyone does drugs.

My room was a 3 meter long corridor (debately one of the bigger rooms) with no light as I was in a crevice of the building, with a constant flow of trafic from what seemed to be the busiest road in Bristol. My shower was a hole in the wall and all for the stupid amount of £727 a month... what a party though, best time of my life.
