Talybont Gate

Lovely spot - very nice facilities and room. Good location in talybont so never too far away from the fun. Also right beside big Tesco's and McDonalds which is key. Albeit one of the quieter halls itself.

Really nice halls- the only official Cardiff university one (at my time atleast) with a 4ft bed and also a tv in every flat living area. Super close to Tesco, McDonald's and kfc but it's the furthest from uni (main campus) and also you have to do laundry in the Taly North laundrette which isn't far away but is always busy and a pain when it's raining and you have to make three return trips to wash and tumble anything. Not the most sociable of halls due to its distance but can always pre at the closer ones which keeps your flat clean anyway

Really nice bedrooms and kitchen area, sports facilities are very good and a very social area. The only issue is the half an hour walk to university.

Located furthest away from the main building and still only half an hour walk or 10 minute cycle. Tesco extra just 5 minute walk away meaning shopping is never an issue. Rooms are great 3/4 bed with private bathroom, plentiful storage space and large desk. Kitchens fully equipped although the oven could probably be bigger, great size social area and sitting room. Highly recommend these halls, not as social as talybont north/south but find the right people and there’s always something going on.

Posh modern rooms, dead good kitchens huge fridges loads of room to keep your stuff. Sound proofing between rooms is good All the bars anywhere near close are pricy for student drinks! However, long long way from uni or town have to get motivated just to go to lectures/halls

Really easy in location to Tesco, KFC, McDonalds... so perfect for a drunken takeaway! However quite far away from the uni itself, not too bad a walk when you live in accommodation with a TV!! Rooms are nice, and the social experience is great :) Always something going on. Shame about messy roommates hahaha

It is really nice facilities but social life is limited. The rooms are spacious and have a 3/4 size bed and the bathrooms are very nice. The kitchen space varies depending on which flat, some are very large whilst others are not. People tend not to socialise between flats as it’s very big. I would recommend taly south for social life.

The facilities were perfect, nice en suite with a walk in shower, double bed, plenty of bedroom and desk space. Having a sofa and a tv in the kitchen/living room was also really nice, it made hanging out with my flat mates so much easier. However, Gate is VERY far away so be prepared for that long walk everyday, puts you off going to lectures. Being near McDonald’s and Tesco’s tho is great, so convinient and having bute park on your doorstep is fab. Gate can be a little clique-y though and the social aspect amongst flats wasn’t as great as say uni halls or talybont south, but still it wasn’t a bad place to live and you can socialise plenty through societies etc

Cleaners give it the big one and make it difficult to find motivation to clean they’re being paid to complain to us and fine us additional costs

Pretty great place. Clean and new inside, incredible communal feel to the block. Cleaners are alright, had a nice chat with one this one time, seemed like a cool geez. Got maccies, kfc n Tesco outside your door, it’s all good.
