Parkgate road is situated right outside the university Parkgate campus (main campus), it features a row of terraced houses which are all mainly student houses. Each house holds 6 students and they're all single sexed houses. It is self catered accomodation and is one of the cheaper options that Chester university offers. The rooms all vary in size and cost slightly, but they all contain a single bed, a desk and chair, a wardrobe, a book shelf, a lamp and a bin. This left me a lot of room to personalise the room with a rug, a futon for friends to sleep on and some extra storage shelves. The house had a large shared kitchen and 2 bathrooms with showers. Sharing toilets between 6 can be difficult but over all we didn't really have any issues. This is probably largely due to the fact that shared spaces in the house were cleaned weekly by cleaners hired by the university. The house was also close to the universities security staff office which made me feel very safe. Although technically outside of campus you are right by the main gates into campus which made everything conveniently close, especially if you have lectures on campus. The house is also very close to the town centre, so much so that we often walked to town, which was great for saving money for nights out. The only downside was the distance to the supermarkets as i would estimate they were a good 25 minute walk, but only a quick 5 minute drive. This issue will soon be resolved though as it appears that construction of an Aldi has just begun on Parkgate road. Overall I loved living on Parkgate road during first year, as it gave me a great opportunity to meet people and socialise with other students who weren't on my course, who i may not have met otherwise.
