Rooms are nice, feel safe within the complex security guard on overnight, fun place to live and nice staff

Lonsdale halls are/were a half hour walk from the city centre, 20-40 minutes to the University campuses and 2 minutes from local shops. The rooms were of a reasonable standard but the flat itself felt like it was falling apart, we had no heating and hot water for about 2 months, the shower drain broke and flooded the bottom floor carpet, hobs were temperamental. The social spaces were good they provided us with pool and ping pong tables. We also had a good cube at which you could buy bread, milk, sweets, chocolate and ready meals with either cash or your card. There was 24 hour security in order to keep us safe and make sure nothing went too wrong. There was also a mobile number we could text/call if we forgot our keys and couldn’t get back in. Overall I would give it around a 7/10

Location- is poor Facilities- worn down and poor, majority of washing machines are broken Social areas- not clean and poorly maintained My room- decent in size but not worth £114 a week!

This halls were located a long walk away from uni and town, and there was only one unibus route that covered it, and the buses were often unreliable. There wasn't a huge social experience and I only really mixed with the people in my flat. The rooms were big, but very basic, single beds, desk, hanging rail for clothes covered by a curtain, a sink and mirror, and a chest of drawers. There was a shared kitchen and a shared bathroom area. This halls is now being taken out of service, I don't know if that's permanent or if they're going to renovate them and bring them back.

Overall these halls did the job they were designed to do. They were warm, protected by campus security and had a good little fob system so that if you didn't have the fob you couldn't get into the building. They were reasonably priced for what the rooms were. However, my flat consisted of 8 students and only 1 fridge freezer and a smaller fridge. This meant that, if we were being fair, each student had half a drawer for freezer food- which just isn't enough. I know students in other halls (Peak Court) that were in flats of 4 or 5 with two fridge freezers yet those in Lonsdale had to struggle. The location is also awful. It's close to the main hospital, which is good if you ever needed it. But it was a good 25-minute walk into town (manageable) but a solid 40 minutes (minimum) to walk to the uni. On cold, winter mornings no one wants to spend 40 minutes walking to uni for a 9am. There was the uni bus, don't get me wrong. However, it only passed halls twice between 7 and 8:30 (and if you got the later bus, you'd be late for the lecture). This meant that you were either up and in super early or always 10-15 minutes late... that's if you managed to get on the bus before it filled up! Anyway, overall, the halls were good, the rooms were decent (a little more shelf space would have been nice), there was always campus security but the location really lets them down.

The halls in derby are not that great, but lonsdale halls in particular was the worst. The halls at the front had a lounge with sofas and a tv, but the ones at the back did not. The ones at the back also had a room which was out side the main corridor on the main floor, which was annoying at 3am. The hot water took about 30 minutes to warm up. Rooms too were very small for what we were paying and they didnt even come with a cupboard, just like a recess in the wall with a rail for coat hangers and thats it. The only thing that was good was we had a cleaner come weekly. It was also the furthest halls from all the uni campus.

As my first student halls Lonsdale left quite a bit to be desired. I had a larger room on the end which was quite nice also very expensive for what I had at £115 a week. My friends who had the smaller rooms paid quite a lot for these also and some of them desperately needed repainting / some TLC. Distance wise the halls was very far from the university, something which I had already been told but the buses that ran outside the halls stop were unreliable often coming late or not coming at all leaving you with the choice to continue to wait for a bus and potentially be late or walk and..still potentially be late. But the layout of the halls was nice, I had chosen to be in an all female flat and below mine was 2 mixed flats and an all boys flat, the social life was good and made easier by helpful halls reps who gave us plenty of information on upcoming events!

The accomondation is fine, however we went a week without and oven due to it breaking, the shower broke, the toilet broke and the door lock broke. My room let’s in all the cold Due to a gap in the window.

Location of the halls are really far away from everything. The nearest University campus is 20 minute walk. The main campus is a 45 minute walk. Town is a 30 minute walk. I've been doing a lot of walking since I've got here.

Rooms were big with clean minimalistic furnishings. With flats of 8 people, everyone is able to find the right social experience for them. The flats have shared bathrooms, but these are no issue since most people are clean, and there are cleaners that clean the flat once a week. The location of Lonsdale hall is not great. It's about a half an hour walk from town and about a 45 minute walk to the main university campus. It is on a university bus route, and the unibus is free for all students so the distance is not bad.

There were some lovely people I met in halls, there wasn't many events on however to try and meet these people making my friends and I to go out and have parties to meet these other people.

Considering it is the budget halls it's not too bad. However the furniture is minimal and there are many silverfish. The location is the best although it is fairly close to town.

Loved it here. Very sociable compared to other halls. Bit far from town and uni but there is a free bus. It looks a bit run down on pictures but I made the best friends there and would go back in an instant if I could!
