The rooms and kitchen are good and spacious, and the bathroom is okay too. However there are few washing machines available and they are really expensive.

These halls offer great facilities and feel very homely. Kitchens are big and modern, rooms are lovely with big shower and 3/4 beds. The kitchen is cleaned once a week for you too. They have 2 study rooms as well.

In good location near uni 5/10 minute walk to all facilities across the campus. Not a lot of social areas unless in certain accommodation blocks.

My Halls experience was overall very positive. The few negative comments that could be made are fairly trivial and are far outweighed by all the positive ones. The building itself is very modern and in excellent condition as it was only put to use a few years ago. All the fittings and equipment in the rooms and kitchens are of the highest quality, after a year of living and partying not a single item was broken or damaged. The inside of the flats was basic but more than adequate, which is precisely what a student needs. The general theme was a lot of white contrasting with orange colors which appealed to me personally. The location of the building was excellent. Being a campus university all the halls were within walking distance of the teaching facilities, but the location of my halls had the added benefit of being furthest away from the main campus road. This meant peace and quiet without any noise pollution from either traffic or late-night party goers queuing for the bus. The surrounding are was all green fields and woodland with the occasional squirrel or hare running between shrubs. The nearest bus stop was only a couple minutes walk away from the halls so getting into town was a breeze. One of my few negative points concerns the location of the building: as a result of the surrounding rural area phone signal was quite poor for all network providers other than giffgaff and EE. The individual rooms were lacking in nothing. Each came with the usual: bed with mattress protector, desk, chair, and (in my case) enough wardrobe space to fit all my clothes in twice. The biggest benefit of these halls were the en-suite bathrooms. Each had a sink, toilet, shower cubicle, towel rack, shelf and a mirror with its own dedicated light. The bathroom was a perfect size; not too small to feel cramped and claustrophobic, and not unnecessarily large. I'm quite tall myself and, whilst being terrified at the prospect of using a tiny shower cubicle in which I could barely move for a year, I was pleasantly surprised to find it the perfect size. The bathroom followed the color scheme of the building, that is mainly white but the orange was exchanged for shiny aluminium fittings and dark grey surfaces., and rather than being a normal room in the building it was all one self-contained plastic pod in the shape of a large beveled cube much like those found on large ships. The facilities the building provided were again simple but more than adequate. the launderette was equipped with several washers and dryers, as well as an ironing board and iron (and a vending machine for people waiting on their clothes). The common room had everything required: tables, chairs, vending machines and a big TV. On the ground floor the housekeepers office regularly received the resident's post and contacted the individuals notifying them of their deliveries, which was a big help especially when the delivery was done by a service that did't send delivery notifications. The social aspect of living in halls was an unforgettable experience. Every night could be a party night if one would go around a couple kitchens, which were often left open encouraging residents to mingle with other flats and meet new people. Most of the residents were very friendly and open, and living in the halls most of us quickly made new friendships within the first few weeks of moving in.

The building itself was in fantastic condition. Everything was modern and the place was kept very clean. Rooms were spacious and had good decor. No big social events took place in the common room as Anna MacLeod wasn’t a particularly sociable hall, but having couches in the flat kitchens was definitely good for socialising with flatmates. Value for money was below that of many other halls across Edinburgh as there were no special features such as TVs to merit the price. If you have good flatmates, these are definitely the best halls to stay in, however that’s just down to luck, and I was lucky.

The new halls are located a short walk from the university buildings and although are the furthest halls away are still very convenient for the daily commute into university. The social experience of the new halls is really what made them! It is easily to make friends and socialise with the 5 members of your specific 'flat' but also the neighbouring flats as they are all easily accessible and friendly. The rooms themselves are good sizes with en suite bathrooms with get cleaned once a fortenight. There is plenty of space for study and areas of pin boards where you can personalise your room. The main issue with new halls is the lack of social areas, you have a kitchen/living room in your flat of 5 but other than that the rooms are not as communal as in the other halls.

Repairs were ignored or repeatedly postponed. Staff were not strict enough about noise late at night or behaviour of other students

Really close to the Uni buildings so you can sleep in pretty late haha Its well looked after and you're surrounded by the countryside; bit of a shame you only get to spend the majority of it in the dark months because the surroundings are really nice.

The new halls on campus are absolutely amazing. They offer all the necesseties a student needs, from a en-suite room, spacious kitchen, excellent workspace to a comfy 3/4 bed. The 5 person flats offer the perfect balance of meeting new people and not being overwhelmed by crowds of strangers. The location is great as well; the university library is a 4 minute walk away, the surrounding area is just one green field after another and the buildings are far enough from the main road that car noise is non-existant. The only downside is that residents who use 3 as their mobile network provider have issues getting service, all other providers work just fine. Overall it's a great place to live, offering everything a student could want.

Really good halls. at the start of the year there were a couple of teething issues with the heating and other works still going on which was slightly disruptive but apart from that the quality offered was very comfortable. really good for making friends and going round to kitchens for parties, everyone feels close together so it's really social! good distance from class too, easy to get there quickly. the only issue was the price was quite steep

Had a really good time in halls. excellent for the social side of things, with everyone being together in the same place there were always things to do. A bit dear to stay in for the year but made the most of it by keeping the heating on all the time
