This is a private halls accommodation with an on-suite. The room itself isn't very large and has a 3/4 bed. Despite this, the only problem I have with the room itself is that the window is tiny and in the corner of the room. Due to this I always need to have the lights on, which I am not a big fan of. Also, the radiator is a slight pain to operate, as you need to press 2-3 buttons manually every time to turn it on. The kitchen is quite big, with enough space for at least two people to cook. There is also an attached 'chill area' which has a nice view of the castle. Overall, it is a standard accommodation that you can live in quite comfortably for a few weeks, though I would not recommend it for a full year. The reception staff is nice and helps you with any question they ask. My main problem with the residence as a whole is that they do not organise many activities, due to which it is really hard to get to know people within the residence. Due to this the residents are very isolated and tend not to mingle (except for the rare occasion when the accommodation does host an event, this has happened twice in the past three months). They do have an activity's calendar, but this mostly includes getting sweets or fruit at the reception or an advertisement for an event that is on in town without them making any effort to gather people so we can all go together. They do have a common room, but due to the lack of socialising within the residence, this is barely used. This common room includes a pool table (the cues do not have any tops) and table football (which is broken and keeps falling apart whenever you try to play).

I had an amazing experience at Portsburgh Court. It was in a great location, only 10 minutes from the city centre and very close to the university. The flats were all clean and extremely well kept. Furthermore there were loads of opportunities for socialising.

Showers are big, friendly staff, amazing location, large bed, really small rooms and thin walls.Good events going on to meet people and really close to the city centre; just underneath the castle. Not enough laundry machines.

central location close to central campus(where there is free shuttle bus to kings) the art school, and the meddows wih easy access to new town shopping and club scene as well as the old town cowgate. Perfect for freshers as everything is within walking distance.

Upsides: Ridiculously central location, with the central campus (Bristo Square and George Square) within a 10 minute walk, Prince’s Street within 15 minutes and the castle at the end of the street! Staff are lovely at Portsburgh Court, especially the receptionists. Very relaxed about predrinks and flat parties (they only tell you to stop if someone complains about you!) and do their best to help with any issues. The flats themselves are lovely and it’s nice to have both a double bed and an ensuite (something that my friends are quite jealous of!), and with 5 people to each kitchen it’s just the right amount - some accommodations have up to 15 in one kitchen and it can get a bit crowded and impersonal. Downsides: We have had a large amount of issues with the wifi, fire alarms, and water going off/being unreliable so far, which is a bit frustrating. Also, the common room is in the basement, so no-one really uses it much, which is a shame because it’s a well kitted-out room!
