Great location, within walking distance of the city center and all student life. The rooms are good size but the facilities( heaters, lights) are prone to minor errors. The RAs are great and organize a multitude of social events.

Good location which is a quick walk to the main library/campus, and a 30 minute walk to King's building. The common room is nice and comfortable, and good for studying in. The rooms, kitchen, toilets are fairly comfortable and nicely furbished, although the downside is that the walls are quite thin and not soundproof so you can often hear noises (such as talking, sneezing, walking/ movments) coming from the other houses/rooms next door and above/below.

Social experience is lacking but mainly due to the stairwell but despite this people are very gane to interact and there are plenty of activities to encourage you to socialise and make buddies. All other attributes were fine.

Location wise Sciennes is great - not far from the centre of Edinburgh, minutes from George square and like a 25 minute walk from the kings buildings. The size of the rooms are decent, considering it is cheaper that most other uni accommodation in the area and the kitchens and bathrooms/ toilets are a decent size. The facilities themselves - the toilets are a bit of an issue, breaking often and the hot taps are boiling (better too hot than not tho). The cleaning leaves a bit to be desired (they just hoover and wipe down the surfaces from time to time so you’ll have to invest in some toilet cleaner and bleach). The washing machine facilities are okay and the common room is good for movie nights or getting some studying done (during the day). The WiFi isn’t great (disconnects all the time) and with no service you can be left feeling isolated/ cut off. There isn’t a great deal of atmosphere within Sciennes place (the rest of Sciennes is apparently a bit livelier) and you don’t really get a community feeling - not sure if that’s just down to luck or if it’s the way the place is set up. It’s not awful to live here, it’a location and decent sized rooms are it’s selling points.
