Brook Street

Firstly, the size of my room is acceptable for the price I pay each term, however it is quite small. The location of the halls is great as it is situated right near the town centre and is only a 5 minute walk from the HW campus. The halls of residence is like a close-knit community which makes it easy to make friends because everyone lives very close to each other and you bump into people quite frequently so you always have a chance to say hello.

Brook Street is rough! There's rumours that it used to be a prison and it's not terribly hard to believe. It's certainly not homely-looking and the beds are hard as rock. They also make you share with ten people in a flat. Location is good though and it's fairly cheap if you get an early bird offer.

Really good halls for first year, very social. Had fun here and made good friends, perfect location for town and uni. Basic but had what you needed and good value for money! Some benches outside would've made it better.

Great place to stay for first year, very social. Basic but good value for money and perfect location! I made some friends for life and never really had any maintenance issues, I think it was run well. Having some benches outside would have made the courtyard much better.

Brook Street halls had a great location, 5 minutes from town and 10 from University. It was so social because I was in a flat with 9 other people and made loads of friends in the whole block. It remained quite tidy and it was good that we had cleaners to clean the bathrooms and communal area.

The location is very good as the halls are very close to the university. The social experience was incredible, I made a lot of friends. My room was big and was en-suite, however it was next to the building entry and during the night, especially after parties, there was a lot of noise and I could not sleep properly a lot of times because people stayed outside, in front of my window/ building door, smoking and talking very loud.. It was a good experience, but not great for someone that has to work to pay the rent.

When I arrived at the halls I thought even though they looked a bit like a prison cell it could be nice one the inside. The rooms weren't too vad, but check for mould from the beginning is all I will say. Because of the court yard in the middle it allowed for a friendly atmosphere and you could get to meet lost of different people. All in all I would say there were the best halls to stay in minus a little mould.

Great location. Good value for money! However, laundry is very expensive! Comfortable mattresses and friendly security

Great location but looks like a prison. There's rumours that it actually used to be a women's prison and I wouldn't be surprised. Sharing a flat with 10 boys and living in filth. Ovens are rubbish too and bed hard as nails.

These are the worst halls I have ever visited and stayed. The security is so high for a small town, any guests need to be confirmed by security and signed in before 10pm. All halls at bucks have just been made non smoking and was enforced after contract signing. The accomodation manager for all accomodation has a very poor reputatiation with a large amount of the student body for being rude and innapropriate. We recently had a fire at our halls of residence and the security officer silenced the entire alarm system genuinely endangering our lives. They're trying to keep it quite. Thank god a student noticed the smoke and a fire engine turned up after no one responded to their confirmation call. The university have introduced 'Senior Residents'. These students are made almost supervisors within the halls, promoting a hierarchy. Often complaints about these SR's are made due to the abuse of their power and the way they speak to students, these complaints are rarely followed up. If you want my advice about coming to Bucks New University? Don't. They're under investigation for financial mismanagement, silence and treat students poorly, and as a result have lost a lot of student intake.
