Cartmel College is the furthest away from the main university buildings so it is extremely quiet compared to the other areas of campus. I believe this will be good during the exam period when you need a bit of peace to revise. However, walking to the shops, lectures, the underpass or the library can be quite annoying as it's so far away which is only made worse when you're walking for that long and the weather is awful. There are other colleges much closer the all the amenities. It's quite good though for people who don't like going out to town because you're not as likely to be woken up by a drunk person going back to their room at 3am. The phone signal in Cartmel is awful, I can't call people from my room so I have to go outside somewhere. The internet isn't great but that's probably just down to eduroam. Also there aren't that many buses that come to Cartmel so your best bet for frequent transport is the underpass if you don't mind the walk. The rooms aren't as modern as some of those in Bowland and as I'm paying more for my room than some of my friends are, I'd at least expect my room to be as good as theirs. The room is still a decent size and has plenty of space for storage though. The walls are quite thin so you can often hear other people from your room which can be annoying if you're trying to sleep or work. The kitchen area is quite nice however there's not a lot of fridge/freezer space and compared to other University dorms such as Greenbank student village at Liverpool University, they are not as modern as they have larger frigdes/freezers, more seating areas and a television in their main room. Overall the standard is good, but it could be better - especially in terms of phone signal and wifi coverage which are the quite important to students.

The accommodation is lovely, the rooms are spacious, however there isn't enough fridge space for 8 people! we get along quite well, however the Cartmel events are pretty quiet and boring, (we kept invading Lonsdale freshers). the porters are lovely and the people are nice. Barker House is a nice relaxing pub - not too expensive either! bit far from main campus but good exercise

Lovely scenic location, bit of a walk to where my lectures are held but as long as I wrap up warm its not that bad. I love my room and the facilities are nice, the only thing I would add to them is a communal area other than a kitchen. A nice comfy area with sofas and a TV would be a perfect place to socialise with your flat mates. Apart from that, I love Cartmel and its friendly and safe atmosphere.

When I first arrived here I was a little alarmed to see how far away from the main campus this college is located, but after having lived here for over a year I can say that that is a positive quality, rather than a negative one. Whereas many people began to feel a little entrenched in the rest of the campus towards the end of the year, in Cartmel you are sufficiently far away from lecture theaters and seminar rooms that you feel a certain freedom. As for the accommodation itself, it surpassed my expectations. There is plenty of space in the rooms, and there is an en suite in all the flats in Cartmel (I believe). All communal areas are cleaned by cleaners and there is plenty of kitchen space. One thing I would mention is that the kitchen area is the only social space in the flats, so it can be difficult to make connections to your flatmates to begin with. However, the overall quality of the accommodation means that it is worth it.

Cartmel College might be the furthest college away from the main university campus but it's worth the extra 10 minute walk because of how pretty the views and buildings are - it doesn't even feel like you're living at a uni. All the rooms have an en-suite bathroom which I loved but only a few houses had new, renovated kitchens installed which wasn't very fair because people who were in houses with old kitchens still had to pay the same amount of rent. Cartmel is definantly the quietest college out of the six. I found it hard to get to know people during the first term so I really recommend joining a college sport team or any other society because that's where you get to meet a lot more people and make friends.

The rooms are really well designed and a good size. There is 2 ovens, 2 fridges and 2 freezers which means there is enough space for everyone to cook and store their food

I loved being a little bit separated from the main campus and the rooms and bathrooms are great but we had a very small kitchen and it would have been better to have had social space in our block other than just the college bar.

Superior ensuite room- room small but well equipped with plenty of storage. Ensuite was not so good with cracked tiles. The main problem was kitchen, no place to socialise

The location is far away from the centre of campus, however with that you get the best scenery. If you're lucky enough to get a room facing south at the bottom of cartmel you get the views of the fields and hills. Kitchen area is very nice and modern. Fridge Freezer Oven and cupboards with tables and chairs. Flats of 8 people making it a great social experience for nervous students. Room has a hell of a lot of storage space. Ensuite bathroom is nice, shower is a little small but manageable. The single bed is liveable.

The location is on the outskirts of the university campus, and thus despite the walk which can be a bit of problem for 9AMs in the centre of the campus, it gives my accommodation a peaceful feel. The quality of the kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms is amazing. All of them are a good size and are clean and of good quality. The flats are for 8 which is a perfect number for both socialising but also having your alone time when you need it. One of the downsides is that even though there is a kitchen, there is a lack of social areas which makes hanging out all together not always the easiest.
