Located at the heart of Oadby Student Village, the location of the halls were ideal. The ensuite room types and spacious kitchens were well worth the price and great atmospheres for socialising with fellow students. The Village Hub is a great space for meet ups and events outside of Gilbert Murray, but I think improvements could be made on opportunity to interact within each hall and between corridors themselves.

Nice and clean. Good atmosphere. Nice kitchens. A bit noisy but to be expected. The halls are quite far from town but you are with loads of students, so it makes up for it. I lived in Bowder Court so had an ensuite so that was nice. The village hub is good in the evenings or on weekends. The food is nice and the drinks are relatively cheap. There is a uni gym nearby so you don't have to go all the way into uni to exercise.

The accomodation was a greet social experience with so many first years living in the same area. However location wasn't the best being so far away from the university and town centre in general. My room was amazing with a good amount of floor space and ensuite and an especially long desk which was really important for when I needed to study. Although slightly expensive in price the large kitchen and the room in general was worth it. Furthermore due to location and the number of people using the internet, the connection was quite weak and did cut out at times. The phone signal was quite weak aswell.

The rooms were a good size, and the staff were useful and friendly. The food court had lots of options, however there were little options for vegaterians, and it was often closed after sports practices.

All the halls near John Foster require a Uber or a taxi into town, and to get to uni either a bus, a bike, or a 40min to 1hour walk. I lived in Bowder court which is really nice, big rooms and having a private bathroom is really peng. But for what it is it’s very pricey.

GMS is a great experience as a place to live for a year. There is a bus over the road every ten minutes dedicated to taking students to the University and the amenities within the halls themselves are excellent. There is a really vibrant student bar (the S bar) with a cinema room and interesting events and live football when there is a big game as well as free pool tables that always have somebody willing to play you, it is a really fantastic place to live and I'd recommend it to anybody who is finding a decision on where to live. It's also super close to the gym

Halls is a crazy experience because you are shoved in a flat with 5 people you've never met and you just have to start living together - totally sureal. However it's a great opportunity to learn, if you go in open minded and friendly you'll be fine. GMS had amazing facilities and the biggest kitchens which were great for parties and flat cooking nights or movie nights. It was great to have such a comfortable communal space so that my room could be kept as my own and was very much my haven to destress or work when I needed that space.

Oadby Student Village is really nice with a good sense of community. I actually like it being away from campus. However, it'd be better for the uni to provide their own bus than make us pay hundreds of pounds to get to campus. Also, those with supposedly 'shared' bathrooms in my specific house have one each, just not attached to their room. It's unfair as they still pay considerably less in rent than those with ensuite rooms.

The location was far away from town and the uni but the atmosphere was incredible in our safe little area, everyone was a student there and there was a student pub that we would go to pretty much everyday. Deffo recommend living there.

The location of the room is probably the worst aspect. It is far from the university and therefore the walk is long, or you have to take a bus (and a bus pass costs £375 per academic year). You are forced to have catered accommodation which sounds great, until you try the food and realise it overprices and undercooked.

Brilliant kitchen, very spacious bedrooms with good en suites, perfect halls to meet new people and break yourself in to living alone. Very good WiFi strength and security 24/7 so you are always safe. Only thing is it’s far from uni but all UOL is really so it’s the best around!

Gilbert Murray halls were not my first choice, but having said that my best experiences from first year are from being at these halls. Sharing a bathroom was not an issue at all, I never once had to wait for a shower or for the toilet, there’s two showers and toilets per corridor. And although I wanted to cater for myself, being catered for was so much easier and I wish I had that this year! The only issue I had was the location because it is about an hours walk into the city, but if you buy a bus pass it’s not an issue at all! It’s really nice how all the first years are put together, it’s like village of students, you get to meet so many people it’s hard not to make friends. I loved it!
