Catered food isn’t amazing but there’s a huge variety so there’s something everyone will like every day. It’s also very good for anyone with dietary requirements. The overall halls are okay but it’s the socialness of everything that means I really recommend it

Best year of ma life hands down. Scruffy and like a prison block but couldn’t think of anywhere better

Off campus location but regular bus so no real problem. Facilities are a bit grim with things breaking a lot but the cleaning ladies keep on top of things and are lovely. If you're looking for a good social life mcnair beats all other on campus halls. At the end of the day you're there to make good friends not live in a hotel. Wouldn't recommend for those who aren't wanting to be social and want a really secluded space for themselves. On a floor with 20 other people so you need to be ok with sharing facilities. Never had to wait for a toilet or shower though.

Love the location. Right next to the bus stop and the cash point and the canteen as well as the laundry rooms and the doctors! Was great to be a little bit away from the campus so you could separate social and work. It was great to see the outskirts of liverpool as well.

Location of the halls isn’t ideal because it’s a 20 minute bus ride to campus, which wouldn’t be problematic if the bus passes weren’t so expensive. However the halls themselves are extremely fun and the most sociable halls I’ve ever seen on visiting my friends elsewhere. They are a bit rundown however because Carnatic was built in the 60’s. Food is great but there’s no ovens or hobs in Halls just a microwave

I enjoyed the experience very much . Initially I was skeptical as the halls are a fair distance away however the 699 was a huge help.

I did not enjoy living at Carnatic. The rooms are like prisons with dreary decor. The cost of living there is also extremely high, although it is catered they do not provide lunch. The cost of getting the bus everyday to uni also adds to the over all costs. It has a good social aspect so if you wish to concentrate on your studies it can get quite loud.

The two things that I think are lacking a bit are the quality of food and the wifi. Food isn’t awful but there’s few healthy options as it’s just chips every day. I have found the WiFi very difficult as it disconnects from my phone a lot however others have found it fine. also it’s a long commute to the university which can be a pain but if you can put up with those things it’s definitely worth it for the social side.

The rooms itself are outdated, small and not the prettiest but McNair is the best hall for social life and partying. It was the funniest year of my life living there. It's catered so it's nice knowing you will have breakfast cooked for you every morning.

The location is too far away from the rest of the university that you feel very out of the loop. The carnatic building is not much of a social hub, there are some pool tables but there is no where where you feel you can relax with friends.
