John Dodgson is great in terms of location - 10-15 minute walk from UCL and right next to Kings Cross/St Pancras International as well as most bus links. It’s not the most social hall however, and the price you pay is quite steep for what you get. Nevertheless, I met my best friends in JD and I wouldn’t look back on it with any regrets. I think a Hall is what you make of it (unless it is objectively terrible). Would still recommend living here.

There was a nice computer room which was quiet to study in, but didn’t like that the common room was in the basement, it always felt stuffy. Only had reception 9-5pm & not 24h so not the best security. 20 mins from campus but close to my building. Ensuite so not that much interaction

Ensuite rooms are comfortable. Kitchen has everything needed. Common room great for socialising. Staff were helpful and efficient. Made lots of friends here in first year. Could do with thicker walls though. Wi-Fi needs improvement as signal often disappeared!

I chose John Dodgson because I wanted an ensuite, but it was overall a very meh experience. The social life was almost dead, despite us having a huge common area, because the people were mostly very closed off. The location was great, being 10 minutes away from UCL, and so close to Kings Cross for ease of access to so many places in London and beyond. The ensuites are pretty awful, gross looking, and my toilet broke 3 times. The room sizes go from small to slightly less small, and it is all based on luck. Having computer and printing facilities was brilliant for work though, as well as laundry on site.
