Good amount of social life available to the students certain aspects need to be bettered hiwever ie the conditions the halls are kept in for example making sure wallpaper isn’t peeling and the doors in the bathrooms aren’t chipping off at the bottom.

It's a good place to live in when it comes to area wise however students are always so loud no matter what day or time which means you'll wake up if you're in the inside facing place. Rooms are small and not worth the rent money as there's always something wrong.

I think the location of the halls is fantastic, only a short walk away from central. It was very close to lots of different stations so it was always easy to catch the tube somewhere. The distance from the actual uni as well is very short walk too, so you can easily spend more time in bed in the mornings instead of having to wake up earlier to travel. My room was a decent size, how ever I was in a smaller flat of 5 people and our kitchen faced a brick wall of the other blocks while other flats had a great view of the London eye from their windows.

Location is amazing so Close to university and central London abit of a dodge area at night tho and next to a half way house but Waterloo, Southwark and elephant and castle are all in walking distance! Amenities and reasourxes at this halls haven't been updated constantly breaking like ovens and showers, sometimes told to keep window open in winter to keep fire alarm going off from shower steam which is just not Liveable and tours are done on the one updated building but you can't pick your building and some are awful and mice are often seen

Very clean, great rooms all spaced out and the workers were helpful. Each room had the necessary furniture needed and the kitchen was big enough for parties and the whole experience of having your own apartment was cool, so I think McLaren did a good aswell as the Freshers week was set out really good with free drinks and allows us to socialize and get out of our comfort zones.

The location around McLaren house is very beneficial as it is very close to the university and close to many shops including teacos, Sainsbury’s and other shops, it is also close to many bus stops and underground train stations, being so central in London is amazing as there is always something to do. McLaren is set out like no other student accommodation it looks more like blocks of flats, there is no campus just parking in the middle of the blocks, the cheapest rooms are very old and small with very small beds, even the more expensive rooms normal to other accommodation I have seen, McLaren is good for first years as it is very sociable and loud, if you are in your second year and have serious exams this may not be the best place.

The Halls of Residence in which I lived was fantastic in terms of location as all major London attractions were a mere 15-20 minute walk from me. The facilities were adequate and the social experience friendly and bubbly from staff and students. My room was standard but good enough to live in. Have a fabulous day, beloveds.

Mclaren house is definitely where the most is going on. When I moved in September 2016, it was so welcoming with the courtyard full of students excited for freshers. It didn’t take long to settle in and my intial nerves were put at ease by the staff and other students who were all in the same boat as me. As these halls are so central in the heart of London, the hustle and bustle of the city is right on your doorstep with loads to offer. The rooms in Mclaren house although basic, you are allowed to personalise them as your own so you feel as if you never left home. I would say there are some parts that need to be updated, I was in a shared flat with just free people where we shared a bathroom and shower and they were a bit run down, the walls in the bedrooms could do with being repainted as some were damaged from previous students hanging posters on the walls. Overall, compared to some accommodation I previously visited the rooms were a little more spacious and allowed you enough room for all your essentials in order to help you study. The wifi was always great, I never had any any problems. The only thing I would say is the cost for accommodation is overpriced for what you pay for but I guess it comes down to the location as well as Southbank is just down the road with lots going on etc etc. I would like to mention that although there are social areas, not all students really make the most of these areas and I think it should be more encouraged for people to come along to meet new people as it is always great to know more people in halls because you never know when you might need someone. Overall, I would recommend for anyone looking for a flat to stay in whilst studing at Southbank as it is simple and provides you with everything you need and just a short walk into the Uni without paying exrta for transport.

The location is amazing being so close to university buildings, Waterloo station and various tubes. Shops are so close by with about 4 Tesco’s within 10 minutes, the social experience is decent, and my room is okay, it’s still quite old looking with blue walls, curtains and carpet and wooden furniture so not the most visually pleasing however it’s perfectly comfortable. My room last year was better in block A with white walls and black/grey carpets. Price is good for London however it’s still a stretch for the student loan. If anything were to improve it would probably be things like fire alarms going off when people shower, having the fob security doors actually shut properly all the time so that it’s working, when recovering post for small packages to still be put behind the desk rather than just into the communal post box as I’ve had a couple of small things go missing. Also the WiFi in my block (C) is terrible compared to last year, I can’t even receive it in half of my room :(

The halls themselves are tightly secured with good lock systems and a 24 hour receptionist and halls embassadors on call. This makes us feel secure and safe, including the overnight guest rules where we must sign someone in days before arrival. However it would be more useful to have a system where you could only have one person but could sign them in there and then as this wouldn’t make any difference to security as they could still say no to multiple guests. The halls are good sized for central London, with decent bed, good size room and washroom for each students private use. The common room is very useful and smart. It would be nice to have a sofa or lounge area in each flat but the table we are given is of a good size for a decent sized kitchen. We get everything we need at a basic level including desk and wardrobe. Staff are good at fixing problems when they occur.

It's a s***hole literally like a prison, your not allowed to have guests over unless they allow them, you have to use Fobs to get out of the courtyard into reception, it's a nightmare literally the London night life is amazing but you can't bring people back from clubs, that's dead

The biggest halls at lsbu. Always something going on due to being full of first years. Rooms are decent sizes and always helps to have an en suite

The best thing about mclaren is the location, which they use as an excuse to let standards slip else where. During my stay, the lifts would break for months at a time (the building had 8 floors) and no one cared about my disabled friend who lived on the 7th floor - she could walk, but had a limp and struggled on stairs. Another huge issue that happened was with the water. Some pipe burst, which meant that sewage was leaking into the drinking water of a section of the building. Several people got seriously ill before anything was done, and we were supplied a 2Ltr bottle per person to last numerous days while it was being fixed. Unacceptable.

It’s pretty central which is awesome, my kitchen view is the London eye for reference. Every room is en suite, a luxury I have grown a custom but I know I’ll lose it whenever I move out. The staff here are alright, pretty strict on really dumb stuff which can be a massive drag, but all round it’s ok

The rooms tend to be damaged when you receive them, I would suggest having photo and timestamp evidence just for safty. I like the fact they have an Amazon locker in the reception. Sometimes the lifts break for a few days which is horrible when on the top floor. The social area is good to bring friends with a pool table and things.

The room I pay is more then I would for a small room as my mates pay same about as me but a bigger room.

I love that I got to choose my flat mates and live with friends but we're treated like children and things are always breaking. But the location is perfect.

Old, smelly, full of mice and bugs. Lifts don’t work. Staff are rude. Mail often goes missing. People can be super loud due to the thin walls

Location is good, however the management is appalling. They implement new rules without informing the students regularly. They increase security so not only is it difficult for the people that live here to get in after uni, but it's basically impossible for you to bring a guest like a family member or a friend from home. However, they don't even check the people that cause trouble like druggies and other student that carry weapons on them because it's too much trouble for them. No blu tack on walls unless you want to be fined. Regular room checks without your knowledge or consent. It takes ages (days to weeks) for maintenance to do anything such as fixing a flooded flat or your bedroom light being broken.

The staff can be rude, the facilities poor and buildings a mess. But my god, the parties are something to live for.

People were friendly and staff usually nice, however the place was quite run down. Really needed a makeover! The location is so central but also in areas that you might not want to be alone in late at night.

Great location close to the uni and central London. Needs renovating as it’s a bit run down. The staff can be quite rude too. Overall I’d stay there again just be prepared from dirty walls and old appliances.
