I like how close it is to the uni and town. However students are very noisy during the week. I don’t mind noise during the weekend but when I have to wake up early because I have a lecture in the morning I dont appreciate the noise at late hours at night. My bathroom could’ve been better e.g. a bigger shower

The accommodation is very close to the university and to the town centre. However, compared to other halls, it is not worth the money. The rooms are very basic and so is the kitchen and living room. It is definitely not worth the money.

the halls itself is a good layout and seen as maybe a more party vibe than most halls, but the facilities are outdated, i applied for a double bed and ended up paying about £140 a week for a single room. no luxuries provided like tv which i didn't mind, and their app makes it a lot easier if you're locked out or want to make a noise complaint. the lift was always broken and i lived on the 7th floor so that was awful, especially after a night out. staff lovely and friendly all the time, the downside of the place is just the facilities really, and the heaters barely work so it's always pretty cold. i still had a good experience there despite all that, but would not pay that much looking back. location is great though, opposite uni and above a shop and takeaway and next to courtyard which is literally the best bar in manchester

Sitting bang in the centre of Manchester, New Medlock house is an ideal place for first years to live. Very friendly staff who are happy to say hello whilst you're having your morning smoke. Super relaxed and inclusive vibe, makes the courtyard a nice place to be as you'll probably see someone that you know.

The lifts constantly break, the rooms are cold, the mattress on the bed has bed bugs so bring your own, the kitchens r very old with cupboards often not closing, fire alarms go off in the middle of the night for no reason and stay on for 4 hours straight

awful place. had a bug infestation as soon as we arrived! rooms and kitchen were dark and old creating quite a lonely environment. wifi often didn't work. would not recommend new medlock especially for the price.

The room itself was lovely, I had an en-suite which was perfect for first year. The fortnightly cleaner was a life saver, didn't stay clean for long but that's to be expected. Week 1 I had a cockroach in my room, which I'd been warned about from reviews but I'm a clean person so I thought I'd be alright. The guy who came to check our flat said my room was the cleanest student room he's seen so we can't be blamed for the cockroaches. And for £150 a week (total rip-off) we shouldn't have had to live with those.. The kitchen constantly had weird black bugs the size of 5ps, and our oven didn't really work so the kitchen was the worst part about this accommodation. Amazing location though, quick walk to the arndale and a fab takeaway place underneath the accommodation for after nights out.

The location of the New Medlock House is just way too good for students who will be walking all the time as it's close to anywhere in the city centre. Apart from that, a lot of buses available so you can get through anywhere you like (convenient). The room is big enough for a person to stay and it's really good.

Standard 1st year accommodation priced at luxury. Wouldn't recommend. First day of moving in fridge has exploded and gas leak, they asked me to "fix it myself". Kitchen vent was also connected to my room. If the price matched this wouldn't be such an issue. But £147+ a week for something that should be £90 max.

Clean halls with decent rooms and bathrooms. Social life is decent too. Managment was good as they would collect our mail

The location is superb - only 5 minutes away from the University buildings and a 10 minute walk from the City Centre. However, the lift in E Block was down for nearly half the year (not ideal if you’re disabled or living on 7th floor!), also there was a plumbing issue which led to a room in our Flat being flooded and the kitchen was poorly maintained.

The halls were great to get to know and gather people around. The room space was enough but, in my opinion, the facilities could use a renovation.

The location is ideal for MMU students as it is very close to all university buildings. However the facilities of the accommodation are very outdated and the noise is very loud and walls are very hollow. Bed sizes are average and toilet and shower space is very small. Kitchen is great as the space big and appliances are very well maintained.

The location is really good but the laundry system is not good and the social experience could be improved

Location: the best for any MMU students as MMU is just across the road and only a 10 minute walk into town with a free shuttle bus outside the RITZ. Rooms: everything you need including en suite and enough room to study and party.

The location and maintenance team are the best thing about New Medlock House. The quality of the living areas and kitchen are poor for the price we pay; the decor/ curtains are clearly outdated and in need of redecoration. The furniture in the living area is in need of replacing. We have had many issues which have been mostly fixed by the good maintenance team.

It's a decent location in regards to university and social life, however the halls themself aren't that good. I feel like you're paying for the location and not anything else

Location is really great, but the heaters are awful, the lift is often broken, kitchen appliances are faulty

Brilliant halls, free tea and coffee, free pool, as well as ps4 for games (in the rec room not each individual room) decent sized rooms good security.
