Dirty shared loos in some accomodation, vastly varying quality of some rooms compared to others - some have ensuites and kitchens whilst freshers rooms had dirty sinks and no hand drying facilities in some shared toilets. Cleaned and bins cleared at least a few times a week which is a bonus and the scouts who do so are usually very lovely - this is a nice feature of the Oxford system. Ballot system being reversed has led to some years being hugely disadvantaged in terms of the accommodation and missing the chance to live in the nicer rooms. Buildings are however quite social and this is a nice aspect. Only paying for the rooms whilst you live there saves a lot in terms of costs as a student but per week rent is still extremely night for the quality of accommodation given. There is also extremely little flexibility in some instances where students do require to stay outside the designated term times - this is often made into quite a difficult and expensive process for students when they need to remain at university for exams etc - other colleges seem to have a more reasonable booking system, with many granting free vacation residence during exams. It seems unfair that students studying some degrees for which the exams fall outside of the usual term times are forced to pay a significant amount of money in top of rent and tuition in order to remain and sit their mandatory exams - whilst other students studying different subjects do not have this financial burden as exams are during term time.

It’s great socially. Friendly, inclusive. Great library. Great food. Accommodation is poor. Lots of clubs and societies.
