Duryard

Before coming to Exeter, I had not heard of Duryard halls so was a bit confused when I was allocated it! It's a slightly further walk than some of the other halls but not by much, there is a footpath that takes you directly to the uni and it is very close to the sports park. The halls in general were absolutely fantastic, everything was so clean and new and I loved my flat. It is one of the smaller blocks of accommodation, but as long as you make an effort to get to know some of the other flats in your block then socially it is really fun.

Crap location, however great facilities and good social experience! The room is a standard student accommodation

Very nice halls, very brand new when I moved in. Far distance from campus and town so be prepared for a walk, however no hills so could be preferred over Birks grange which has 'cardiac' hill onto campus. Petrol station very close so convenient for small bits and pieces.

The location is quite fair from campus and the centre, however the rooms are a good size with a nice living space.

I live in Teign house, Duryard. It is about a 15 minute walk from campus, but this flies by. the only issue with the walk is the hills on the way there, but you get used to this within a few weeks. The walk into town is around 20-25 minutes, maybe 30 if you are walking slow. This can be irritating if you have to pop into town quickly, as each trip takes at least an hour and a half out of your day. It is also annoying on a night out, as it would be easier to get a taxi, but of course this is money that students would rather not spend. Duryard is close to St Davids Train Station though, and this is very useful. I say close, but it is about a 15 minute walk. Duryard is not as bustling, i would say, as Birks Grange Village, where they have a little shop and common rooms with pool tables. This is okay however, it doesnt bother any of us much as there is a Spar at the bottom of the hill. The flats themselves are nice and modern, very clean, with good facilities. The en suites are wet rooms, which can be slightly annoying as the floor gets soaking wet after a shower, but again, this is manageable and you get used to it. The kitchens are spacious, I believe they are bigger than most kitchens, definitely bigger than the Lafrowda ones. The ovens are a bit outdated but this is okay, they do work. The cleaners come once a week, although i do not find they make much of a difference, but it is appreciated. The washing facilities are lacking, in my opinion. there is 3 washing machines for Yeo and Teign house, and it would be helpful if there were more. it is also expensive, £2.50 for a wash and £1.30 for a dry. The price of Duryard is £147. this is quite expensive, but the facilities are nice. I do look forward to having cheaper accommodation next year though.
