St David's

St David's is a hit and miss in terms of university accommodation. In any housing your experience is dependent on who you live with, but it is even more prevalent when you're in houses as opposed to flats. Houses have a subconscious feel of being slightly more standalone, so St David's is good if you have people who are all able to get along. It is also luck of the draw as to whether or not you receive the newer, renovated houses as opposed to the older ones, of which are the same price. There is also significant variation in the room sizes, again which are all the same price. However, St David's certainly has some advantages. Being right next to the station is very useful, especially when considering that you can use the universities' shuttle bus for free, so you don't have to walk up the long St David's hill to campus!

As the cheapest of almost all of the accommodation in Exeter, st David's is by far the best value. The house format is, in my opinion, better than being in a flat and in my year the people were lovely and very sociable. The rooms are all modern and fairly large, however the kitchen was dated, although I think they have since been renovated. The halls are located by st David's train station so it's about a 15 minute walk to campus, which compared to most second year houses is pretty average, however it is all uphill. It is also closer to town than most campus based halls, but again it is uphill. I loved my time there and would recommend to anyone.

•Great location - near station, town & campus (although the hill to campus is a killer, but there is a shuttlebus) •Homely feel - 3 floor house, with sofas in kitchen & 2 bathrooms & communal garden

Large room and good size house, quite far from campus but there was a good shuttle bus service up to campus

Great to be in a small community, always bumping into people you know - especially in Kingdom Mews. The hill up to campus is annoying, but having the Imperial only 2 minutes away is great. Also being next to the station, never really heard the trains, and really under appreciated being that close to the station. Annoying that there were no good shops nearby, which weren't very cheap as its near the station. Also having the quay 5/10minutes away is great.

Location is average: could be a lot closer. No lounge area, just a kitchen that’s falling apart. Badly decorated and bad facilities. Horrendous wifi. However I believe it is the cheapest HoR for first years.

Excellent location, right next to the main station (it’s £1.50 return to town or 15 minute walk), about 15 min walk to uni although it is uphill, which isn’t great. Some noise from the trains but you get used to it. St. David’s is made up of houses in a student ‘estate’ and each row of houses has a communal back garden which is really lovely and good for house parties that get a bit too packed! This is why I’ve given a 5 star to ‘social areas’, despite there being no common room area for the estate. All rooms in each house vary in size, each with their own characteristics, which is nice!
