Bournemouth has the best of both, city life and the countryside. The beaches are compared to those in Miami - so cool. The people are friendly and there are events for everyone throughout the year. The air show is coming up which is the highlight.

Bournemouth is good for entertainment as the high street has a large area filled with all of the usual high street shops plus a large area filled with restaurants. The nightlife has a mix for all types of people plus it is in the perfect location on the beach!

With 7 miles of golden sand, and a city centre, you really do have the best of both worlds. From zip lining to mini golf, the oceanarium to shopping 'til you drop or fancy bars to insane club nights out, Bournemouth is the best student centre.

Great clubs, bars and pubs in town with different types of crowd and music. There are great variety of restaurant and different types of international foods. You can find all main big stores in the centre too.

Bournemouth is hands down one of the best university’s for location! The first obvious thing about the location is the beach - rated in the TOP 5 beaches in Europe! There’s nothing better than grabbing an ice cream on a hot day or sitting outside Aruba overlooking the beach with a cocktail in your hand. Bournemouth also have really cute gardens as well as a fantastic shopping area in town as well as at Castlepoint. The nightlife is great with plenty of different options for everyone. Cameo is a firm favourite with student nights on a Wednesday as well as Halo Monday. The old fire station is the student union club and is the first home of Foreverland which is a spectacular event now all over the UK!! All in all bournemouth is an amazing area with plenty of things to do overall the value for money is definitely worthwhile and is actually cheaper than other university areas.

Poole is known for their Poole harbour and they have sandy beaches. The nightlife is good in Poole and they have clubs such as cameo in Bournemouth which are only a 10 mins car journey. They have a splashdown water park which also has restaurants such as Nando’s. Has a Poole stadium greyhound racing which I enjoy for the atmosphere and the betting. The wildlife is good value for money as their is a lot of wildlife and parks in Poole. Sandbanks beach is value for money as it’s free and the fish and chips on the beach are tasty. Durdle door is on pooles doorstep and is value for money if you are into trekking.

A number of shops are empty, creating an impression that the town is on its way down. But brilliant location next to the sea and warm. Plenty to do in the evenings and lots of places to eat. A great place to go.

Poole/Bournemouth is in a lovely location. Everything is on your door step, from the Sandy beach to the club's and bars. Good restaurants with reasonably priced menus and plenty of takeaway options. Transport is very regular so using a car is not a necessity.

My rating is more on Bournemouth as I went to Bournemouth University, however, it is technically located in Poole. Nights out are great, there’s Lollipop & Cameo as the biggest night clubs, with Revolution & other bars available. There’s a club night with student offers most days of the week, Lost Paradise Mondays, Toast Tuesdays, Cameo Wednesdays, Applebum Thursdays, Lollipop Fridays & Snakebite Sundays! Saturdays are the most expensive to go out & older people often join so wouldn’t recommend. Shopping is great, lots of choice in town with a shopping centre in Poole too. Food is good with plenty of student friendly places- tastebuds is great in Winton for breakfast, Waga’s for lunch & The Stables for dinner. Also there’s plenty of dessert places with the fave being Sprinkles! (Try the cookie dough)

Poole harbour has a great range of pubs, particularly the gin bar. It is great for the arts, with the Poole Lighthouse arts centre located in the centre of town, which offers a wealth of art forms. The Dolphin Centre is a shopping complex with most high street stores, and also features a climbing centre. Bus services are very reliable around the area.

If you live on campus, you may struggle to enjoy the nightlife as your destination is around 2 miles away. Taxis are your friends though and we even have Uber here! If you live in halls though, every night is magical. You're I'll always see a group of people ready for an exciting night out. It's a short walk down a hill to the clubs so if you're not a night person, you won't have to worry about the loud noise from them. Personally, I live near the town centre so I do live a distance away from the university however there are frequent busses which are super cheap (compared to where I came from) or if you're a cyclist, it's a straight stretch and there are tonnes of bike compounds fitted with bike repair kits! Again, like me, you live close to everything so shopping is never a hassle. It's a 10 minute walk to either ASDA or Lidl, wherever you prefer to shop so you can save money where you need to. If you live in a place like Winton however, you have an Aldi and a poundland (as well as various independent stores) and it's only a short walk to the university. Most people consider living there in their second year so I'd definitely recommend it! I just prefer near the town as you have BH2 so I can pop to the cinema when I like to.

It's gorgeous here. Perfect for outdoor people, with the beach right on our doorstep. Shopping and eating out options, there's pretty much all you could want. Transport is absolutely handy and very reliable on busses and taxis if needed. No need for a car at all. I love it here, and really did settle in quick.
