The location was almost directly opposite the student union which is good for nights out and is only a 5 minute walk from town which again also very useful. Mainly foreign students in the accommodation but still are many English students. Food is hit-or-miss but takes away the stress of cooking or preparing meals in first year.

I stayed here in my first year just after Lansdowne had been built so there were some problems. The cladding on the building was not correct and so there was a lot of building work happening throughout the year to replace it all, which could be very loud and annoying but I didn't find it as bad as others. Lansdowne Point did offer us a partial refund of our rent though to make up for the inconvenience, and the staff there are always lovely. The location isn't that close to the university but just down the road it a bus stop for the U1 bus which regularly travels straight to the university, so it's easy to get there on time for lessons. It is also within easy walking distance of the beach and town centre. I stayed in one of the studio rooms with a small kitchenette and en-suite, and it was really, really nice. I loved the room and it had a great view (being on the 11th floor). The bathroom was small but very nice, with an amazing shower. The kitchenette didn't have an oven, only a microwave-oven, and a small hob but that was fine for me. The wifi was great and there was a good-sized laundrette on the ground floor for which you need a laundry card which you top up. The room was very expensive but personal circumstances made it my only option but despite this, I am happy I stayed there.

Must say. Lansdowne is the best accommodation in Bournemouth. The Location is perfect. Close to the Old Fire Station (student club) and other clubs within walking distance. The rooms provide just enough space with comfy double beds. It’s kitchen is the best for predrinks. Very spacious. Also is has big common room and also games room with table tennis and PS. This hall is the only one being catered and it saves a lot of trouble and money when adjusting to living on your own. Also staff is very very friendly. I miss living in Lansdowne.

Lansdowne Point is such a great halls to live in! It’s the BU international halls, so you get to experience lots of different people and cultures. Most home BU students all get put in a flat together, however I was with 4 other international students. Although it was quite difficult to get along, being that there were pretty strong language barriers, I still enjoyed living with them. The facilities were always so clean and tidy and looked good too. I had a sea view room on the 9th floor and honestly, it was worth the money. In your room you have loads of storage and a 3/4 double bed, which is pretty comfy. The shower ensuite is really nice and overall the room is modern. Only thing I would say is that the ensuite doesn’t have a lock on it, which is slightly annoying when you have people over! It was only a 5 minute walk to Lansdowne campus, the student nightclub and a big Asda. There are loads of bus stops around too to get you to the other campus and around Poole/Bournemouth. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the beach and 20 minutes into town. Lansdowne Point is one of the more expensive halls, however it’s the only catered halls at BU. I think the price is worth it if you opt catered, although without it is a bit cheaper. The staff there are absolutely incredible and being away from home for the first time, they were almost like parents for us all. They’re very caring, approachable and friendly. There’s someone at the main desk 24/7, which is great for security. They run lots of different social events and outside in the courtyard they’ve had quite a few different things such as a petting zoo, BBQs and music events. There’s a games room on the first floor with a PS4 and ping pong table in and on the 12th floor there’s a really nice common room with loads of comfy chairs and sofas. They put in either a football table or Pool table as I was leaving. There’s also a balcony on the 12th floor, which unfortunately is always locked. But the views are still amazing up there, as there’s floor to ceiling windows. In the day you get an amazing skyline and sea view and at night, you can see the whole of Bournemouth lit up. Lansdowne Point will always hold a place in my heart. I met my best friends there and it was my first home away from home - a pretty amazing one at that!

My room was great, other than being a bit cold because the heating was on a short timer. The WiFi was great, and the laundry room was good. The elevators weren’t great as they wouldn’t come quickly and broke down quite often. There were social experiences but I never went to them, they weren’t that well advertised, but there was a social area with a big tv. The studio room I had was quite expensive but I loved it, and it was brand new. And now they’ve rectified the problems with the cladding on the building it should be much better.
