Sheffield is great. There is old and new, industry and green space , multicultural, lots of languages spoken and lots of great nightlife. There is also a whole host of international restaurants to date any appetite for a specific cuisine.

I loooooove Sheffield! Fifth biggest city in the UK but feels small and easy to navigate. Right next to the Peak District as well which is amazing- 15 minutes from the middle of the city to gorgeous countryside.

Overall Sheffield is a great place. The town centre is easily accessible and walking distance from the university, transport around Sheffield is affordable and the different places coming to the town centre is constantly expanding

Sheffield is a really great city to go to uni. I am two thirds of the way through my first year and have grown up in London and Brighton and it's such a nice change. Everyone is so friendly and the city has a nice feeling to it. The nightlife is amazing and there are loads of places to go out and things to do.

The fact that there are two universities in the city make it a brilliant student atmosphere, it's really fun and there are lots of bars, pubs and clubs. However, there's a huge shopping centre just outside of the city so when you really need to buy something it can cost you a £4 tram ride, which is irritating. Also, the city is very hilly which can be a drag.

Great for a night out, clubs are great, code, corp, leadmill are all great and the bars on west street are good too! Great for people just wanting a cocktail with Revolution well located! Shopping on the high street is easy to get to and only a short train journey along to Meadowhall for an even better experience! Also a good range of restaurants :)

Great to eat out in Sheffield, so many independent places. Bars are great and cheap! Buses are only a quid for students but you can walk to pretty much everywhere around the city.

I love living in Sheffield! It's not a huge city like Manchester or Liverpool but I think that can actually be a positive. There's loads to do and there's alsways pop up events going on. It might not seem obvious at first but when you've lived here for a bit and know where to look out for events there's so much you can do. Part of the reason I like it here is the proximity to the Peak District so if you've had enough of the city you can get out there and explore. Also being close to the countryside means I've been able to do really cool things like walk an alpaca! In terms of nightlife there's a wide variety so whatever sort of music you're into there's a place for you. City centre probably doesn't have all the big name shops but there is Meadowhall which you can easily get to for £2 return on the train. And in Sheffield itself there are lots of independent shops with unique products if that's more your thing.

The location of my accommodation is right in the middle of Sheffield which means it is within 5 mins walking distance from literally anywhere, it’s the best part about living in Sheffield, everything is so close together.

I really think Sheffield is a great university city! I commute everyday on the buses and trams and they are so quick, reliable and clean (a rare find on public transport!) that I honestly don't mind it. In terms of shopping theres the city centre and Meadowhall Shopping Centre which are both pretty good value for money and incorporate chain and independent shops so you've got the best of everything (one of the more popular independent shops amongst students is Cow, on West Street, which sells super nice clothes). Food wise, wetherspoons are a must, you cannot come to the north without having a spoons at least once a month (they're great money-wise!). Nights out are the same, theres a mix of pubs and clubs like University Pub and Corp. The students union has its own basement club too, which I personally think could be better, but it also has a cinema which more than makes up for that! Also, lets not forget that Sheffield (which is a super nice city in itself) has train links to loads of other cities in the UK but is also only like half an hour away from the Peak District so you get the countryside as well.

Sheffield has an array of things to do within the city. As a University student, I feel I have everything on my doorstep; from the best nights out to a simple dessert shop or salon to wind down. All the major shops etc., are a simple five minute walk from me, so public transport is not vital, but I do know it is very cheap and frequent. We also have Meadowhall – which consists of more shops and food places if you want to venture out slightly.

Good for nightlife but not much in terms of shopping due to meadowhall. However they are starting to improve it with things such as the light.

Great nightlife with loads of clubs that are suited to everyone’s music taste. Thousands of different restaurants in every cuisine, with ranging price points. Many modern shops all around the centre of Sheffield with again ranging prices. Meadowhall not far for shopping. Few nearby cinemas.

I'm coming to my final year and I have loved every second in Sheffield. It is easily became a home away from home (I moved here so I had to love it one way or another). Coming from the capital, I realised that Sheffield is a smaller, greener London. Good for shopping, both Meadowhall and Crystal Peaks have everything you want and then some. The night life is decent, can easily have a good night with £15 and still have enough for a cab home and a pizza! I've loved every second here, and wouldn't mind moving up here permanently.
