Bournemouth uni has a lot of modern facilities and pushes students to strive. There’s always the odd lecturer that you don’t like but you’d get that anywhere. Plenty of library space, computers, books and resources online. It is generally run by really lovely staff who are helpful. Pub on campus alongside other places to eat or get food from for great prices. Overall the teaching is to a good standard and it’s very diverse, all lecturers have different tactics and the uni is good at trying to accommodate for all.

The doctors on campus is incredible. They offer things like counselling and send letters home to make sure you are attending the doctors if you have recently been through something that they know about. Can be long waiting lists but you get that everywhere!

Course content was really good, the lecturers were excellent and the placement excavation was really good fun!

However there were only 6 people on my course... so social groups were hard and pretty forced.

The university is around 20 minutes on the bus from accommodation and this was rather annoying and a hassle.

But the campus itself is nice, if some parts are quite old...

This course has been very interesting and really varied to cater to everyone's specific interests. Being both Archaeology and Anthropology, second and third year options offer a wide range of choices. So if you'd like to tailor you're degree more one way than the other, you can! The optional units can also be assessed differently, so some will be assignment and exam, whilst others are all coursework.

My course is very interesting and prepares you for real world incidents. Some of the subjects I have learnt have not been relevant to my course, for example Web Design. Everyone on the computing courses does the same first year but I think this needs to be streamlined. The course has been refreshed into a new course that offers better subjects. I don't feel like my course was relevant until second year on half of subjects I studied. Some of the lecturers don't seem like they care at all unless you get amazing grades.

Course module review - Major Multi-Media Project, 08/03/2017

Submitted by Anonymous on

This module is one of the fun ones as it is the one time you have full creative freedom over the direction of your project. Although you have to conform to platform structures, it is the most free project and the one where you can really specialise and explore the area you want whether that is documentary or radio or magazines etc. The teaching is quite helpful as you get constructive criticism throughout, however some of it can be a little misleading at times but overall pretty good. It is a weighty and difficult task but certainly worth it for the end product

Course module review - Online Culture And Behaviour, 22/05/2016

Submitted by Anonymous on

This module was advertised to students as closely linked to the current changes in the digital media world, however we ended up learning about random psychological theories and human behaviour, which fair enough, is important in our job, but didn't meet the expectations from the course. The two tutors on this course had the very bad habit of not talking to each other, which was constantly a cause of confusion between students and what they were expected to do with the assignments.

Course module review - Social Psychology And Individual Differences, 22/05/2016

Submitted by Anonymous on

I personally find SID really fascinating and an aspect of psychology that you can apply to everyday life, research and the workplace. The influence people have on each other, even strangers, is incredible and knowing this in detail has a lot of potential for improvement in a lot of areas, for example your future workplace. The only downside is that a lot of case studies, theories and experiments are ones that you have probably covered at A level, and so not much is new in that aspect.
