My university has an excellent standard of teaching, with the teachers having an excellent rapport with the students. The societies are diverse and welcoming, with a high athletic standard and great strive for academic excellence.

There is no student Union, there’s no campus bar and the uni does extremely little to nothing to organise events or anything to help you meet people when you arrive. The facilities are good however there’s no university sport facilities, it’s shared and because of this the football pitches are booked out throughout the week by Aberdeen FC. The courses are ok however some of the compulsory courses are awful and most lecturers don’t record their lectures which I think is an abomination.

Course review , 07/05/2017

This course consists of mainly lectures and laboratories. The assessments include continuous and final examinations. The content does vary every semester. Organic chemistry is my least favourite subject and I have struggled throughout my course with that in particular and found it difficult to get help. My enjoyment of this course may be greater if there were a greater chemistry society but as the class is small I do know the majority of chemistry students.

I really like the flexibility of this course in Scotland, especially in the early years, as it gives you a chance to try out different subject areas to find out what you're good at and enjoy before specialising in later years. I like the organic focus in the first year, and it's good that a foundation year is offered to ensure everyone is on an equal basis and knows all the necessary basics.

Course module review - Geological Mapping Project, 23/05/2016

Submitted by Anonymous on

This module is what sets this course above other geology courses at different universities. It is incredibly intense with little guidance from lecturers. It is the dissertation module but unlike all other degrees what you hand in first time is your final grade which is not helpful. Also renting a holiday home for 7weeks and getting all the equipment and results printed comes out your own pocket which is very expensive.

Course module review - Accounting And Accountability, 22/05/2016

Submitted by Anonymous on

This was my first accounting course. I expected a lot of math, numbers and spreadsheets. I did not do a single calculation in that course. Instead it showed the underpinnings and importance of accounting in our society. This module got me interested in Accountancy as a subject and even a potential career.
