I may be biased but the university creative arts has been nothing but outstanding - especially within Fashion Management and Marketing. The course has allowed me to flourish beyond my own beliefs. Each and every member of staff goes above and beyond to provide guidance, whilst working around the clock, taking serious care in each and every student on the course. As the staff are so invested within all of the students, a very positive and beneficial working environment is created.

Being a creative university, everyone is encouraged to be the best version of themselves. The Uni environment is extremely diverse and welcoming. UCA also provide additional bursaries for lower income students.

The university offers a wide range of facilities within the arts area! Ranging from studio space, machinery such as sewing machines, laser cutters etc! This means our creative ideas are never compromised.

My degree has been a very eye opening and exciting however, the tutors on my course make it very difficult for all the students to keep up with the work. They give us notices extremely late so there is a massive panic and then the students are always the ones to blame when its actually the tutors who are unorganised. We also need more clubs, however due to the small grounds it makes it difficult to organise anything like that of a large university.

BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion

University for the Creative arts is great for the industry awareness you gain throughout the fashion promotion course. However due to basically no societies, sports events or socials university life has no quality unless you try very hard to make it. The course is taught more like a college qualification then a degree and teaching is unprofessional.

Overall, the course is full of useful and interesting content, although the structure and longwinded nature of the subject does let it down and at times makes for a relatively boring degree. However; the nature of the course allows the individual to be as creative as you like, increases design skill and also allows you to learn new and different processes which can then be put into practise in your work. At times like anything the teaching is not always as good as it could be, however tutors are always available for one to one meetings and are always willing to help.

Course module review - Industry Awareness, 20/05/2016

In many universities a placement within in a internship is usually dedicated to another year, therefore making your course 4 years long. At UCA Fashion Promotion, the Industry Awareness course allows you to complete a 8 week internship within the industry as a unit in second year. I even extended this internship for 9 months, turning it into a paid position which is very useful for work experience on my grad CV.

This entire unit has been one of the most enjoyable so far, it has really made an impact upon how - as a designer - you have to use influences around you and work to a certain audience.
The use of sensitive issues such as migration and refugees, means that individual practises & views have to be left to the side as you are designing for a particular reason.
