ust intrigued by the process. Why did he think they would not accept him? “Well, look at me; I don’t look like an FBI agent, at least I didn’t at the time.” He was an Arab-American and a bit of an intellectual. “I just felt that I wasn’t a law-enforcement guy, that wasn’t what I wanted to do in my life. But I went, I took all the tests.” They offered him a job. Soufan, who had just completed a master’s in foreign relations, thought he would return to academia if it did not work out. Depending on the course, the level of academic support varies widely. However, the vibe on campus and the range of different people you'll meet in Manchester make this one of the best choice of Uni's in the country.

Having studied Optometry here, I found the course to be quite demanding and intense. First year counts for 10% of the overall degree mark unlike the defacto "first year doesn't really count" with most other degrees. From then it's more intense and focussed on actual Optometry. If you keep at it and actually be brave to understand the practical aspects of dealing with the eyes and people's vision, you'll be set for the real world where you will be responsible for delivering primary eyecare services. Both a emotionally and financially rewarding career as an Optometrist.

I did Sociology and that was amazing, the lecturers are really helpful and the administration are great. The SU puts on great events, notably Pangea however often the food, drinks and other things are very expensive in the Union.

The University of Manchester is wonderful. I may be a bit biased, as I'm a local, but the university is at the heart of a vibrant city, where there are always things to do, places to visit, and a wealth of history to explore.

The main campus is compact so you never have to walk too far between lectures and there are plenty of computers and study spaces across campus. There are shops and cafes on campus for food. The student support services are easy to access and the staff are helpful

Great SU with lots of societies and events going on around campus throughout the year. Good online information regarding facilities and day to day uni life such as the campus microwave map! Only downside is how far halls are away from the main campus.

Very prestigious university with lots of different departments and very diverse specializations. As far as my subject is concerned, the department holds a world leading position and this makes a difference in the overall experience.

The campus is amazing! With everything you need within walling distance! Multiple working spaces and including a huge library, the students Union has a bar and restaurant, essential stationery shop, multiple food shacks and even Starbucks! Plus working spaces with even more areas nearby to work independently or in groups!

Comparing to UCLA where I am on my year abroad, the oragization and structure of the courses is more consistent at Mancheater. Courses progress in in different specialization without overlapping curriculum. It's lot more efficient than at UCLA for example.

A truly first class physics course. Excellent facilities, world class staff and a brilliant place to study for physics. The lecturers love a chat and you always feel like there is plenty of support if you need it. The University also has some excellent societies and sports clubs, mainly cricket and hiking for myself, but there is definitely a club/society for everyone. I've had an excellent experience so far and would recommend Manchester to anyone. You'll never be short of things to do, whether it'd be pubs/clubs, sports, hiking or even escape rooms (there's plenty of these to try!).

pretty decent, has everything you need, biggest student union, most buildings are great, need more computers

nice study facilities, nice rooms, good teaching, good student satisfaction rates. Lecturers are willing to help, most offer extra office hours. The university is in the middle of town- so there's always something to do!

After working really hard to get into the ‘university of my dreams’, it’s really interesting how my opinion has changed after a year of finally being here. Manchester in general is a fantastic city, and I’m so glad I chose to put in the hours to get into the Russel group university I’m in (I’ve already met some of the best teachers and lecturers I’ve ever had and my course content couldn’t be better). University in general, however, has proven to be something other than I thought: since the recent strikes, I have realised that students are continuously being treated as consumers, and the university’s services as a product. Manchester is wonderful, but I definitely feel that the relationship between faculty and students is something that needs to be improved.

The campus is very big with many libraries, student halls, cafe’s and places for socialising. The Student Union building is right in the centre, meaning you are never too far from all the information and activities you might need. Everything is within walking distance too, making the university campus an overall excellent place to study and live.

The course is generally good, with the lectureres being supportive of studies, informative and helpful with questions and problems. The campus buildings are very accessible and easy to get to. The student union is currently under building work but the organisation is very supportive of students and the union itself proves a lot for students. I am yet to use the career services but I've been told they are very good. The organisation itself is okay, the administration staff (and I say administration, not lecturers) mishandled the strikes situation over this last semester massively and it kind of proved how little they really care about the students honestly.

University of Manchester feels spacious. It feels welcoming. It feels like home. There are numerous study spaces, created to be relaxing, both uni-wide and in every school/department. There's always help available if you need. The many varieties of courses have a solid structure and lecturers are well-learned and their love for their area of study is certainly infectious.

The campus is constantly renovating and being well built which is nice. Very hospitable and welcoming to students. Absolutely love living here. The careers service is fantastic as they teach us how to improve our skills and hone them in ways that I haven’t thought of myself.

The University of Manchester has one of the best campuses in the UK. With more than 20 big buildings, you have access to every of them and classes also in many of them. The libraries and learning commons are also purpose built which helps students concentrate while preparing for exams or preparing assignments. My course of BSc Accounting has a lot of depth in auditing and finance, every lecturer also provides a lot of support. My overall experience of the university is really good so far. Also, there are many sports facilities and programs also available.

The campus is fantastic, as it is quite compact so it does not take much time to commute between buildings, most of which are within walking distance. Some lectures take place in the northern part of the campus but in this case there is a bus that runs there and with the student card it is free. The facilities are endless and super helpful, many buildings have PCs and printers, in libraries there is an option to borrow headphones and laptops, most university buildings have their own cafe which is especially useful while spending many hours studying. The student union provides countless opportunities by gathering hundreds of various student societies. Career services are brilliant too! The staff is always willing to look through students' CVs or applications and there are many options for internships and even volunteering abroad. One of the strongest values the University of Manchester has to offer is the organisation. The administrative officers as well as lecturers are always on top of their duties and they make sure that students are being helped. The support is instant. If someone is not able to help, they would direct people to appropriate places. I would rate the organisation at the university as 10 out of 10. I have had an amazing experience being a student at the University of Manchester and if I was to choose again as to where to do my degree, I would definitely make the same decision!

All the services provided by he university of Manchester including the campus, students union, careers service, sports facilities and library facilities made my life easier as a student. However, there is much to improve on the quality of teaching, assessment and providing feedback.
