The University of Manchester

I really enjoy my course though I believed in undergraduate biomedical sciences there were too many students. The student's union is also not sufficient as they have not used to space well downstairs and the food and drink is not cheap enough to warrant visiting regularly.

The campus is really pretty and the buildings aren’t hard to figure out, there’s good facilities and spaces to study. My course had lots of interesting topics to choose from. The careers are great and helpful. My course was very well organised

The library and facilities are great, though space is an issue considering the number of students in the university and the available seats in the library. In terms of the course in LLB, getting good lecturers and seminar takers can be a bit of a gamble. On some occasions you’ll get really good lecturers and really structured modules, other times you might just end up with really messy mods and horrible lecturers

The University of Manchester has a great campus. It is has alot of facilities and activities for students. The university also offers tons of societies where the students can take part.

University of Manchester has a great career service which includes good experienced staff that take care of needs of the students. I am persuing Msc Accounting and Finance which is a great course to study at such a university. My course taught me the accounting world of different countries and it would help me in building a strong career in the future. Student Union services is the best thing about the University. Lots of Promotion events keep on happening to make sure students are aware of things happening in the university.

It’s a great university in terms of the campus area and the locality provided to the students. It’s based on an open university plan but the huge cover of university buildings provides a perfect blend of city and student life. The sports facilities are great and the coaching staff works out to churn out the best talents of the world.

I am doing MSc Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship which is very nice course. There are plenty of opportunities available in the Univesity.

Location and facilities really good rather than quality of teaching, which is poor. Most lecturers seem to see teaching as something they have to do to get funding for their research

Campus is awesome - nice and large but too big that it’s a trek. SU is so good, great deals on food/drink and so many different societies to get involved with.

University of Manchester campus is great, has some beautiful buildings & is easily accessible by public transport. Their social anthropology course is one of the best in the country but I found it sometimes lacking in academic support outside of lectures/tutorials. It also does not include any modules which prepare students for non academic careers. However the student support team were fantastic.

The one-star rating in no way reflects the standard of teaching, but the management and organisation of the university as a whole. They have been instrumental in obfuscating information regarding both the strikes and student reimbursement and we are actively having to challenge them to change their tactics.

Julie Henri

Great teaching but the university has handled the effects of the strike on students very badly. It is time to listen to students demands.

Everybody is so professional and friendly. I have had the best uni experience so far at the university of manchester. All facilities and building are amazing and well equipped. Although, business student don't have as much building as every other field.

Overall, a bad experience. The teaching on my course could be improved. However, there are high tech facilities which are very nice. Students and staff show a lot of prejudice.

Good university but it's a shame I didn't my master's during the strike because that really messed things up and it created uncertainty which was upsetting. Not a fan of the administration but the teaching and facilities were great!

The campus is nicely located close to the city. With accomadation about 2 miles away. The lecturers here expect a lot from the students. My favourite part of the university is the Alan Gilbert building which has an extremely good space and give to work in

The city is great and theres a lot going on but the university definitely doesnt care about its staff or its students. I guess like many big universities it gets lost in sharing facts and stats about how great it is(e.g. employability ratings) and doesnt see students are unhappy, doesnt support them, and treats them with no emotion whatsoever.

The campus is very nice been having work done recently so it looks nicer. Good computer facilities, water fountains, lots of places to eat. One thing that could be improved is that the lecturers were on strike for 4 weeks and we weren't reimbursed any money for the loss of teaching hours.

Great campus, minimal statistics support. There is no availability of necessary software for postgrads. The only facility your fees gets you is free printing and access to the library

The best thing for me about University of Manchester is that they have their own graduate school building so postgraduates have their own space and resources. Also they have a lot of study space and tutorial rooms in general so you are never struggling to find space. In the library there are group study rooms with TVs to practice presentations too. However, I feel they have limited book resources as not every book I have wanted is accessible which is something I didn’t have at my previous university. The student union is big and always has a lot going on, the SU bar has nice food and a great atmosphere. The whole of campus has a lot going on and great atmosphere too, with plenty of cafes and coffee shops with reasonable prices too unlike other university prices.

Manchester is a great city, and the university is really well funded. I'm in engineering which has its own campus but is still really close. The facilities for engineering are really great anyway but we have a whole host of new buildings which are currently being built.

The university itself is beautiful, with brilliant architecture and great location. The lecturers I have had myself have all been extremely knowledgable and passionate about what they teach, which makes it all the more enjoyable.
