The University of Manchester

I study Spanish and Japanese at UoM and one of the best things Manchester has for someone studying a linguistic course are the amount of opportunities to study or get work experience abroad both funded and unfunded. As one of the biggest universities in the UK with over 30,000 students, it’s really to find societies that suit you and to go to a huge variety of events from ‘ravemington’ to salsa. Manchester is a great city If you’re looking for a lot of the amenities London has but with lower prices. One thing I would say is that with such a huge student body, it is easy to feel a bit lost in the crowd.

The University of Manchester is excellent. Majority of my lecturers have PhDs, the facilities are excellent. They offer extensive services including mental health services which are all well advertised and available. The students union is amazing.

There are two campuses, one closer to Oxford Road train station and the other closer to Piccadilly train station. The main campus would be on Oxford Road, thus the Oxford Road train station is closer f travelling via train.

I completed my PGCE at the University of Manchester and the teaching was fantastic, the ICT facilities were very good and there were many different places to work. The university has an excellent careers service and I feel ready to start my grad job in September.

The campus is very convenient -- at the city centre on Oxford road it seems to be close to everything and is always lively. The facilities the university offer in terms of study spaces is great. For instance, the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons which is open 24/7, has a sleeping pod for if you ever need a nap, and has great study rooms. The students union is even greater with hundreds of societies -- meaning you will definitely come across something you're interested in and meet friends with similar interests.

I'm very happy with my course and facilities available. The campus itself is very well structured, as all buildings are close to each other and this makes it convenient for students. Facilities in my course are well maintained and everything needed is provided. I am particularly happy with the Students Union - the building is well situated, the staff is always friendly and there are events almost everyday. I can say for sure that the University has succeeded with making a friendly atmosphere, which helps a lot with people finding new friends. I have nothing bad to say about the organisation either, every University-led event is well organised, with staff being helpful, patient and understanding. I am overall very happy with my university experience.

Student unions really decent - lots of good food / drink offers on, plus events as it's linked with the academy. Really cultured and worthwhile.

Overall, everyone is trying to be friendly and helpful. Some of the lecturers are quite good and actually want to teach us something useful and or at least to help us pass our exams, others not so much. I would like to see more cultural societies that actually offer cultural activities and events, rather than a good casual drinking company. The sports societies are quite good though. On average, it's alright, but it could be better.

Amazing university for academics. Campus is lovely, clean and well sign posted. Nice contrasting buildings. Student union is nice for socialising as well as revising, and good cheap bar. Helped to settle in really quick, and definitely and as the right choice to study here.

Completing a Postgraduate Certificate of Education at UoM and I am absolutely loving it. The campus is stunning, the course is challenging but just the right amount of work. Manchester is the perfect student city. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because the university was not very helpful when I was applying for my visa, as I am an American student. In fact they were so disorganized with this that I had to start my course nearly 2 weeks late. Other than this, my experience at UoM has been great. Their sporticipate program is excellent and gives students a fun way to get involved, stay active, and make new friends!
