The University of Sussex is situated on a large and open green field site on the South Downs, East Sussex. It is located on the edge of the city of Brighton and Hove. In the 2008 national Research Assessment Exercise Sussex saw 18 departments ranking in the top 20 in the U.K. All departments were deemed to be carrying out "world-leading" research, according to the study, and a considerable proportion of that research was described as "internationally excellent".

Great university, i have honestly had the best time here in first year. living in brighton has been amazing and the people are great i just wish the SU put on more events for students at the university

It is a good university overall, the campus is really nice and the facilities are good enough. Overall the teaching is good, however there are some modules with professors that are really bad and I really think that the moment we pay 9000£ per year we deserve a better service and teaching. The societies are good as there are many of them and the student union is quite good as there is quite some effort put in this. Career centres are mediocre, I believe they could do better. Organization of the uni is good. So overall, the Sussex uni is quite a good university, however I believe that it could do much better for the money that it gets.
