Other events include movie marathons, silent discos, historical re-enactments and a treasure hunt. There really is something for everyone and once Fresher’s Week is over the team at the Students’ Union will continue to put on great and varied events throughout the year.

YSJ is a fab uni. We have a great looking campus, a three storey library, and amazing lecturers. The student union has something going on every night e.g movie nights, pound a pint, doubles for singles, quiz nights, karaoke and more!

My course is Primary Education upper BA hons. The course itself is very good, I’ve felt as though I’ve been supported as much as I can be and have enjoyed the modules as they clearly relate to a specific job so there’s no feel of “what’s the point”. The students union has recently been refurbished and is lovely! It’s a shame it’s a small university as there aren’t any live bands or gigs there. The library is 24/7 and there’s so much technical and academic help there. The gym is tiny and there’s no pool unfortunately. I’ve been very pleased with my experience however the nightlife isn’t the best.

I see a lot of students being offered this support and it seems there’s a lot of help offered however I have no first hand experience.

BA (Hons) Music

I loved my degree. There's the right mix of practical and theoretical in both the course work and the assessment, meaning you'll get a fair balance of what works best for you. The course is fun and varied, with a huge variety of modules to suit any musical journey. I personally went down a teaching route, looking at music in education and the community, doing performance on the side. You could also specialise in composition and improvisation if you would prefer.

BA (Hons) Business Management

My time at this University has been thoroughly enjoyable for a number of reasons. The degree itself was very interesting as I had the option of choosing from a variety of modules to study, of which I chose the Tourism route from Business Management. I found Moodle to be very useful with the content being made available mostly before the day of the class. There is usually enough time to go over the lecture and seminar activities before the seminar, which is needed to read in your own time.

Course module review - Managing a Diverse Workforce, 21/05/2016

Managing a Diverse Workforce

This module was interesting to learn as there are so many different aspects to it. The tutor provided us with a lot of reading material which is advisable to read as much as you can, and I enjoyed it all. Some of the time it seemed like the tutor was just reading from the PowerPoint slides, but he did add his own notes, and guest speakers made it more lifelike. The assessments were an essay on a real company, to improve their diversity strategy, and a group presentation on the same thing. I do not enjoy presentations but my group seems good so far.

Scenario 1 presents a patient called Zoltan who displays the symptoms of extreme kidney failure. The scenario begins with an introductory briefing lecture which explains Zoltan's symptoms, followed by a series of anatomy, physiology and pharmacology lectures which explore the scientific aspects of the disease in depth. It is completed with a debriefing lecture where the treatment and management of the condition are explained. Questions about the scenario are included in the Mid sessional and final exam papers.
